I got the following setup, pIII 500, 8.0 gb,128k ram, running win 98. I want to dual boot with nt4.0( would rather w2k but it has to be nt4 unfortunately).With Partition magic 6.0 I set up new primary partition so that it now looks like the following; c: win 98 2.2 gb FAT 32 winnt 1.2 gb FAT rest unused Everything applied, machine reboots with nt4 installation disks, preset up mode runs fine , accepts FAT partition, get to the stage where it prompts you to take floppies and cd out and notifies will reboot with GUI set up to follow. Reboots but nothing happens, nothing no error message at all just sits there a: I ve run the installation a few times but same thing happens each time. Anybody got a clue what this could be and why it doesnt continue on to full set up.

Hi,wonder if anyone has any suggestions for this problem I am having. I am trying to install NT4.0 as a second O/S together with w98. I bought partition magic 6.0 to help with the installation and have resized drive c where win 98 is and created a new primary FAT partition for winnt. I then hid the FAT32 partiton applying the changes to the system and rebooted using the win nt installation disk. Everything goes fine with the installation of nt uptil the point where you get the screen which says.. THIS PORTION OF SETUP HAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY. IF THE THERE IS A FLOPPY DISK IN DRIVE A: AND OR CD IN CD-ROM REMOVE THEM. PRESS ENTER TO RESTART COMPUTER . WHEN YOUR COMPUTER RESTARTS SETUP WILL CONTINUE. Well the problem is setup doesnt continue. With "boot magic" enabled you get booted back to win98. With BM disabled, and with the FAT32 Win98 partition disabled you can't boot back to win 98 but the whole time Win nt startup does not start up. Anybody got a clue what I am doing wrong here. Thanks

I ll try to do a conversion with partition magic 6 and see how it goes. Thank again

Hi, wonder if any of you kind people could give me some advice.My current o/s is win 98. I need to install win nt 4.0 to run one single application (which only runs under nt4 unfortunately) but I am not happy about changing the complete o/s. Is it possible to install nt4 without uninstalling w98? Can they both be run at the same time? I seem to have a lot of software/hardware which only runs on win95/98 which would mean a large expense to change over. Is it possible to have the NT4 compatible program running along with the other win 98 applications at the same time? Would be great if anyone could spare me some advise on this.
