    Bsod

My bad, forgot about the board. It's ECS K7S5A with latest bios from the ECS site. Note: when I disable ACPI in the BIOS the computer keep rebooting when w2K start. Also I have a 1000 T-Bird and the POST would not auto detect it as 1000 but 750. I have to change the CPU/BUS to 133/133 for it to see.

Just wanted to know if it's possible

Here my network layout. 2 buildings, Servers and switch on one building connected to a switch from the other building via an arial CAT5. I want to have a back up switchs/hubs in place in case the cable snap (Storm, tall truck). I was thinking about setting up a wireless hubs between buildings. (keep in mind this is a temporary solution until the lines are back up so it may be only at 10Mbit). I've found some access point hub but I don't have much info if it's possible to do what I have mention above. Has anyone set one up?? Are they even practical??

    Question

I have TNT2 MX64 video card and a 17" LCD monitor. The problem is occassionaly an "Out of Range" when the resolution setting is set to 1280x1024 @75 hz message appear or the screen just display garbage. The monitor specs say it can do 1280 x 1024 @75. The video card has 32 megs RAM. Is it the monitor or the card??

    Question

I guess when it says 1280x1024 @75 hz it does not mean at true colors. Thanks for the reply.

I typically work with the Master/Slave jumpers on a hard drive. Cable Select is another option. Can someone give me the low down on that feature and benefits?

IE 6 and NT 4 Server

Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issues with IE6 and NT 4.0? I was up[censored] my IE5 to 6 and try to print a web page. The printer server went BSOD and screen dump. This is not a coincident because I actually try it and look at the server..blue screen everytime I try to print a web page through IE6. Uninstalling it puts everything back to normal, except now I can't seem to setup internet mail from Outlook. Dunno what IE un-install during the process.

    Win2K and Raid

I hope someone has already done this. I want to install win2K on the RAID0 (IDE) setup. Try different things but didn't help. Here's my specs: Iwill KK266-R Hercules Vid. 512 PC-133 RAM 2x20 gig Seagate HD connected to Raid port 1 as Master and slave CD/DVD on IDE1 as master/slave IDE0 is empty everything else is out (Nic/SB card..etc.) problems: I did all the raid setup in the AMI bios as RAID0, create the array (did not FDISK or create partition, thought i'd do it in W2K setup). Win2000 boot up and the install begin, so far so good. I did the F6 and install the latest AMI Hyperdisk 100 for the IDE Raid controller. That went well and Win2K starts copying files it needed. When it's done then it just hangs there with a message "Starting windows 2000" on the bottom. This has happen consistantly everytime. What the ***k is the problem??? Note: It only seems to work (the install) if I connect another HD on the IDE0 channel. But I wanted to only use RAID HD. HELP!!! if anyone can point me to the right site or give me a step by step instructions I'd appreciated.

    Win2K and Raid

That kind of suck. I was hoping to just have 2 HD in the system. Thanks for the help.

    Win2K and Raid

You mean have Win2K on a partition of it's own i.e c:\ right? or setup the raid array, partition a drive from the array for the OS and use the remaining for the data? I have 2 HD setup as RAID0 and that's all I wanted to use for win2K. If I didn't mis-interpret you comment you suggest I have a 3rd drive on an IDE channel?

    Videophone

Reporters and journalists are using this during the war with Afghans.. they send video footage news via "videophone". I'm just curious if they are just using vid. cam/internet or something else. Thanks

    NT messenger

Here a question... Everytime a user send a print job a popup on the screen saying the print job is done. I want the messenger service to start automatically for me to mass popup to users when I need to do system maintenance. Is there a way to just turn it off so it does not popup everytime print job is done. Thanks

    NT messenger

Thanks for the reply, I don't have the reskit tools that was mention. The user computer that I'm writing about does not have privilidge to turn on/off (which is what I wanted) services. I want the messenger to be always on only for popup messages from the admin only and not for every print job done. Can it be done with the tools in the reskit???

    Time Sync with server

Hello, I have a couple of NT 4.0 WKS client setup and an NT4 PDC server. The client is login onto the network through a policy I have setup for them. I'm trying to have login script to synchronized the wks with the server so all terminals are showing the same time. I can't use NET TIME \\SERVERNAME /SET /YES command in the logon.bat file because "a require privelidge is not held by a client". Anyone have a suggestion????

    Time Sync with server

I try from the server user manager to give a domain users right to change system time, it's still not allowing a PDC users to change the time on the local NT Workstation to match that of the server. I had to logon as local admin from nt wks, using user manager, user rights, select change system time, and pick out the user from the server domain name lists. The local Nt does not have a user profile, just admin. Guess it make some sense for me why that way work. I'll just play with it some more..

Unless anyone has any better. I want to try the second option of setting timeserver as a service, if anyone can tell me where I can DL Timeserv.exe (part of Res Toolkit) point me to it. (don't tell me to buy a Res ToolKit please...:-( ) again thanks Clutch for the help....

    policy for NT

Here's my setup. NT 4.0 Server, NT 4.0 workstations. I want to establish a policy for all users logging in the net work to say..do not show run command on the start menu. I did it once but now I don't know how. A user can log on to the network from any NT wks machine and the policy should activate according to the user loogin on. 1. How and where do you created the .POL file and where do you save it. 2. if no one know please point me to the right direction. I am checking the MS knowledgebase to see if I can find somthing. Thanks in advance
