This is normally an ACPI problem. A bit more information. Is Advanced power management enable din your bios? and have you tryed reinstalling it in windows.

It depends on the Host clutch if it is also the designer then host definetly gets a cut I Know. But the ones I am talking about are big respectable companies not the ones that pay 10c a click etc. Quite frankly I never click them the reason being they open at least one pop-up when you do. Yes BW does not come cheap. Well ISP's gotta make money as well. On the hosting site you usually get two options. cheap monthly fee, crap service and low traffic. or high monthly fee and loads of BW you take your pick waddy

Hi Brian, Who is your host at the moment? They can not start a SW installation without consent. They are in serious $hit/trouble.
-
Use the jetdirects SW, it should do it automatically.

You are really talkinag about application logs are you not?

And why would you be posting this here??? Anyway. You don't need to do anything they can.

Vauw... MS took the software development one step ahead. User controlled bugs. They will not annoy you or cause you to loose your work unless you want them to. What a brilliant Idea. I bet they will release a new OS in 3 months time and try to make everybody pay again!
-
It is normal.... Come back to 2k my dear! You will be forgiven
-
Microsoft has been claiming it's new OS is faster, better more secure since version 1.0. (Check the archives if you do not believe me!) Well, in my opinion W2k was the only one that delivered up to a point... I have received XP like most of you the day it was released both the home and professional. But quite frankly had no wish to change. I remember when 2K came out I was the forst one to switch but now I am thinking why??? Anyway, an OS having problems with certain HW is not OS's problem. (ie. Via etc) It is usually the HW Designers or the driver developers idiocy! I don't think 2K sacrifices speed for performance. give it enough memory and watch it fly! (512MB +) PS. 2 of my mates who hastily switched to XP for games are already restoring their ghost images of W2k!
-
Why would anyone wish to crash their system??? Are you proud of your accomplishment Palos?

Poor Support, What support... ATI makes brilliant cards, not the drivers! Well at least we know the cause.

Any Good Cloning/Image Software ?
Uykucu replied to reversing_drive's topic in Customization & Tweaking
If you are looking for investment in cloning definetely Symantec Ghost Bur since you are buying it. Definetly get the 2002 version. It is a lot smaller, faster and more capable. It is the same old reliable 2001 with loads of additions and better code. It is only 9 MB's... -
The program might be just uncompatible. Have you looked at the application log??? What does it say? Does it do it everytime or just sometimes.

Uykucu replied to lager_brains's topic in Software
What he means is, There is an Indexing service in windows and office that will index your documents or regularly used files exact locations of them etc. and cache it in to the memory. But I do not think your problem is opening the "files" slowly. it is disc access speed. Quite frankly, i never used partition magic extensively, definetly not long term. I know What i wrote before from the white papers and some experimenting. Try AlecStaar's suggestion, I hope it solves your problem but I doubt it. It was good thinking though. Simple answers evade us regularly! -
Well even god makes mistakes. Look at the woman

You might also wanna try hitting F8 during the start of installation and use your drivers for your controller. (Where it says press F8 to install third party SCSI controllers etc.

Has Partition Magic slowed my computer (Word2000 is slow ope
Uykucu replied to lager_brains's topic in Software
Well, resizing partition with partition magic does not really does what it says, it modifies the partition and links the other ones on top of it and such which is very risky and I had some bad experiences with it. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble but why not backup your stuff and do the partitions from scratch without magic! Partition magic uses some kind of emulation software which it loads on the boot sector. I do not know the specific details since I never bothered to find out but this is the main reason for your problem. I hope this helps. -
Try disconnecting all of your stuff when installing, Particularly USB Devices. If I remember correctly your chipset is via and some of those systems have a problem with usb. Nothing is too much just leave it bare as keyboard mouse and screen I have a feeling you might need those when installing Also If you have anything non-standard inside your machine make it standart such as TV Cards etc. remove them temporarily, you can put them in later and see if it works. Latest I know you do not wish to format but a clean install is the way, dump your stuff to your second HD, burn them to cd's whatever boot from w2k CD, and make it an NTFS partition. Oh and latest, if you have any bootmanagers or such running, get rid of them, disable security options in your bios. I don't know exactly what your problem is so these are the causes that can cause a setup to fail. I hope it helps.

I think looking at the config, they are just trying to avoid spending money. BTW talking about Ram he is probably using SIMMS and they are very expensive. 5-6 times the price of Dimms -
Yes everybody there are ways but the question is why??? NTFS fixes itself when the system is running, there are no such thing as lost clusters etc. If it messes up it does it big time anyway and you learn to keep up to date backups. But Quite frankly in all the machines I have not seen a single ntfs crash in 2 years. (Maybe one but I am suspecting it was the idiot operator deleting dll files. So it was a system crash)
