This is just funny now. Nice little hehe. I try to act like a human and you take it as me backing down. You really are 12 and, if you teach I feel sorry for the students and the biased opinion they get from someone like you. It's no wonder most of the kids that come out of school nowadays, have been brainwashed by someone they believe has real knowledge. Oh ya and I taught as well so there goes your 1337 status, to be honest you sound like the a$$hole I used to work with. So I'll be leaving now thanks for your useless FAQ, and your biased opinions. I'll make sure I don't recommend this site to any of my colleagues. -----edit----- You can begin to call me a 'lamer' again as I wont be here to defend myself. Ya the tension has been released. I laughed too hard after the prep-h thing. It's just that someone made a comment and I wanted to reply to it in a professional post. Eddie don't take my last comment as a flame I didn't intend to be one. Just a statement. ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?

I'm sorry Eddie no one actually ever said "wonder OS", but that was the way that the arguement was being presented(my interpretation). ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?

My whole point is that I havent run into anything that is different enough from 2k to make me switch I' ve had enough fun getting 2k and AD(obscure errors with DDNS and unix platforms) to work the way it is suppose to. They also have a single platform already to use for a business 2K workstation for the clients and Server and AS for server boxes. Yes it will cure headaches for tech support. Which I guess is good because, if anyone has to put up with too much crap, its those guys. This doesn't make my life any easier as I never supported anything but NT/2000 in my network, so win98 is of no concern to me. I'll admit its a good OS for people who have never used a machine before but I thought 98 was fine for that( but thats the one platform deal). I never said I wouldn't use it for the less savvy side of my family(so my personal time isn't wasted doing 98 troubleshooting over the phone) I just said Im not impressed. Its too dumbed down for my taste. As far aa concurrent logins are concerned I can take control of any of my users boxes at any time I please so I dont think that will make my life any easier. I'm going to lunch now so I'll finish this later...Have fun

you may have an issue with it being a proprietary case or something of that nature. It doesnt sound super proprietary as you have already upgraded other things and it still works, you just have to make sure it is a standard atx config on the back of the box. ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?

"its wierd how one little prog can f.uck the whole system isn't it?" We can all thank the registry and shared files for that. Lawless- Winzip has the file spanning built into it and never seems to affect 2k (at least I havent seen any issues with it) ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?

Hey you can also run it with VMWare its an emulator or virtual disk you can run other OS'es inside of your running one(dont have to restart so you can select NT 4 off boot menu). It works much better then a NT/2K dual boot setup. The only thing I dont like about it is you have to dedicate memory to it.Here is the website for you in case you are interested. There is a crack available for it but, I would support the writers of it and pay for it. Hope this helps you... if you have any questions about configuration I can help as I run it. ---edit--- oops forgot this part http://www.vmware.com/ ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there? Tell you what, I'll play nice if you do. It was getting kinda fun though. All I ask is when I voice an opinion someone doesnt call me a 'lamer' for it, I have heard some good stuff about this forum that is why I drifted this way. It is possible for me to be helpful. I do this for a living. I still dont think XP is a wonder OS that M$ built if you would like to hear my logical and professional opinion on it I can give you that as well. _SimiaN_ ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there? The funny thing is you can go on with your "professional attitude" if thats what you'd like to call it but your attack on me ******* was in no way professional. In fact it was rather childish. yes I sunk down to your level so you could understand me. HarU, bug_666, Toby I appologize to you for having to view this. jdulmage, I heard ignorance is bliss, is it true. When you would like to have a debate that doesnt involve calling me a lamer because you can't get to a book fast enough to quote something off, come and see me so I can embarass you. Oh and btw http://www.accesscomm.ca/internet/security/windows2000dns.shtml your website is wrong Microsoft's DDNS works fine with other DNS servers if you would like the syntax let me know. oh and dont forget I must be an idiot cause I dont agree with you. so you let me know when you want to have a heated debate about this and we can do it. Have fun 'kiddie' and dont forget to play nice. -SimiaN p.s. LAMER!!! ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?

Cant Add Users to Groups anymore !!!
SimiaN replied to haytham38's topic in Customization & Tweaking
sorry about that man...ya I dont know what would cause that execept if you had a profile that didnt allow you to add users to groups...but you said its a standalone so hmm? ya I'm with you man I havent heard of this or seen it yet. ----edit----- you know you may want to look at your local security policy see if something is changed in there its in administrative tools "local security policy" you may be in a group that resricts you from adding users to groups. Because if I'm not wrong I think most restrictive permission takes precedence. ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there? ok I wasnt going to but I will lets see jdulmage-- I'm a lamer, ok one who is bragging about XP. also I hope you were telling your boy brian frank that he should go suck a dick becaue if you read what I wrote it was a quote from him and hes one of your "senior members" oh 31337 windoze user. "let's see, based on win2k is XP?? nope, XP is based off of the NT 5.0 kernel they made FOR win2k." <----see when I put quotes around something that means I'm quoting people. I'm sorry WTF does this mean are you saying that XP isn't based off 2k then in the next sentence you say it's based off the NT 5.0 kernal which is 2k. Yes XP has its advantages for the idiot who never wants to know how anyhthing works. Yeah your right I take it all back I can see how something that works well for the end user(who knows nothing) would also in turn be great at handling authentication requests, running DB's, handling remote clients, etc. You know all the same stuff you do while you play quake3. Hang on, nope I still think you are a moron. When you get a clue come talk to me. ONE WORD: JACKASS!!! eddie- Yeah it must be crack if I dont buy into the propaganda. _SimiaN_ [This message has been edited by SimiaN (edited 20 March 2001).] [This message has been edited by SimiaN (edited 20 March 2001).]

I'm gonna get flamed to all hell for this but Its time to cause a car accident.. "XP seems to be aimed solely at newbies, not power users like alot of people here." XP-lets make our users so dumb that they cant use any other OS besides an M$ product. sure it runs like 2k because it really kinda is just a different skin and "user friendly features" and whoo hoo a faster boot if you really wanted a fast boot load a linux distro. power users-(n) someone who wont take the f&8#@ng time to read the manual. so instead they screw everything up and call their sysadmins for help and waste our time instead. "I don't get this WinMe is unstable part. Its not unstable here. Maybe I'm doing something wrong" do something other then run Word in it it will crash. I can make it crash just a few short seconds after boot. Any KRNL386 OS is only good for about 30 hours of hard use before a reboot is needed. This is due to the fact that Windoze ME doesn't want to release it's memory heaps. from this you get paging errors. I think bug_666 made the best points yet. BTW waffles are good and the brown dog is a nice touch. other then that I say flame on. ----edit---- I like the spelll checker BTW too bad no one notices that button huh? did this start happening after you installed anything in particular? is it a fresh install? what apps are loaded? are all of your drivers the current ones from manufacturers site? disable APM unless you have at least SP1. when did it start occuring? after you installed what? ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?

if you can install it as a service do it then make sure that only the admin account can start or stop services. thats in "local security policies" ro you can create profiles for each user on the machine and deny access for them to that program group. hope that helps ------------------ I cant help it I have Attention Deficit...hey whats that over there?
