SnapperOne, great story tells me much... we r wasting out so much time with OS thing , it's more than hobby computers are using us

what a lose I'm testing XP till beta2 yeah it's good but I'm back to w2k till special drivers are out for XP w2k is doing great but that old look is boring me after XP even a theme support like winme would be great what do u recommend for that ? tia

rofl , who said AMD's manufacturing is 1 year behind the intel ??? guyz remember when intel couldn't put out 1.13GHZ PIII with 0.18 micron AMD is still running with it n they will go up to 1.7 ghz with 0.18 micron ALSO remember the long pipeline of P4 , it exists not bc it's the design of future, but it's a design that can give more GHZ numbers to sell cpu right. Don't u remember when a P4 downgraded to 1ghz gives worse results than 1GHZ PIII THIS IS NOTHING BUT ONLY A PROVE THAT SHOWS AMD HAS BETTER SILICON N MANUFACTURE QUALITY I don't say 0.18 is better or such of course 0.13 is a way better will run cooler will overclock better n the day AMD will start with 0.13 process Intel will blow away again In my side there is nothing to discuss about cpu performance or quality between intel n AMD, Only problem for AMD was mobo n such support having via as only partner for beginning n going that good is just like a miracle new mobos, 0.13 n AMD will keep giving best performance for cheaper again

wawww thousand times thx dawn8 ))

the thing I wonder why isn't there any real working QUALITY CERTIFICATE. I mean USA laws can push companies to test every thing about hardware before selling it ok I don't mean with every software on planet but was it so hard for via to test if their 686b had ide problem ? yeah that was really easy if a law would exist like that we would breathe easier

I hear u prince about BX, yes it was all the way problem free stable, also even it's a old technology it's still best performing chipset for PIII, but when I got my kt133a mobo, before noticing bugs, all I noticed was performance, it was way faster than intel. Now I'm still confused, I don't understand why they can't put out a chipset good as bx n fast as kt133a but we can't keep with old mobos, we have to update n even there will be bugs existing, I won't give up from AMD Btw, about nvidia, I won't give a shxt to them, they are becoming what intel was once. I was using elsa gf2 ultra, yes it was fast with benchmarks but when I sold it n got a radeon than I saw how 2d quality is good, also games are running smooth n looking better, yes it's slow under benchmarks but as I said I don't care about scores anymore imho

k now this is really annoying, I have been using 2517 for 2 days without problem, did a cd burn this morning than left pc on n went outside. After I come back, opened Easy Cd creator 5.02 again to burn a iso, it started ok but I felt system got slow, so after thinking why, checked if writer was on DMA mode still n it wasn't. somehow it passed to PIO mode itself. Selection is still DMA if avaible, but whatever I do I couldn't switch it back to DMA mode can someone explain that ? or a way to force it to DMa mode ? tia via kt133a intel nic vortex2

I didn't have problem with media player but I had that ram problem for 2 times too. when I noticed things got slower n my hd working anormal, I checked with taskinfo, a third iexplorer was using 140mb ram, n at the moment I didn't have any webpage open. I terminated it n all turn normal, but really a dangerous bug
-
iwill n kt133a here n easy 5.02 is running without problems. I have lg 12x n whatever I do it never goes under buffer, I'm impressed by performance (with both 2505, 09 , 17)

now, except amd 760 I used both via kt133a and asus a7a alichipset. Let me tell u my own experiences with asus a7a , u choose to go or not. First , it doesn't have any driver or hardware conflict problem, all of my hardware worked perfect n fast. U will see some saying ali chipset is slow, yes it's a little slow than AMD760 but it's rock stable so it's ok, also u can get pc2400 cas2 ddr n use it at 150mhz fsb, u will be really fast. everything else again was ok with motherboard, I didn't have any problems I got with bloody via chipset. But there is 2 issues I couldn't solve. One is it has weird ide transfer performance problem, for ex when using ghost, with all same conditions, it dumps with 80 mb, u try again or restart n try this time it goes with 320 mb which is the must be level. I'm not sure if this is a issue with ali chipset or asus bios. Second problem is, that mainboard is running cpu hot, yes hot. there is min +10degrees with via boards, this is probably north bridge and transistors are making cpu more hot. So u better buy a good copper big heatsink. Hope could help. Btw u r asking of DDR n we dunno know yet if via's new kk266 ddr chipset has problems, so u better search for it n don't be in a rush

now, first of all I have buffer problem with blindwrite, even opening a window decreases the buffer, anyway I installed easy cd 5 to RC1, burned 3 cd's with it, but XP couldn't see any of them also didn't see the label too checked at dos, it was ok checked at winme was ok again then I reinstalled RC1 , and it sees cd's now so in a weird way Easy cd screw XP I don't like nero at all easy cd's is so stable at burning I runed prime95, watched divx n trasfer big files between my partitions, all at the same time and never buffer decreased so I hope there is a solution for that non see

using same irq is one of the core properties of 2000 n XP bc of ACPI and it doesn't affect any performance if u don't have any hardware problem it's ok u can try to use without ACPI so that all your irq's go to bios detected, but u won't see any performance inc

got easy 5.02 today, it didn't warn as incompatible at installing so was a good news also didn't install directcd and take2 , so it's working great now
-
ok after having more problems with fat32, it was time to convert to NTFS. I converted all my partitions to NTFS , just leaved a small one to be able to reach from dos. But problem is I converted while I was on RC1 so now my partitions are Beta NTFS 5.1 I have all my important data on those partitions, should I convert them to win2000 version NTFS and how can I ? also do u thing at final version of XP, may NTFS version would change too ? and if how can I concert NTFS to a different version of NTFS I just don't trust partition magic on XP tia
-
aghhh, I'm totally confused, ntfs 5.1 or 5 it's ok but bill is tring to suffer us while watching divx, with bsplayer or media player , divx quality is worse than 9x or 2000 so I have to keep my dual boot with winme, so I have to convert them back to fat32 again ((
-
warns as incompatible here too but if u ignore installion continues, also it warns when u start the program but again u can ignore n continue anyway it doesn't look lie a good idea to install easy cd to XP right now
-
same here ntcompatible first source to check ))

ok beta2 was booting slow with 2475 per n pro boot was very fast, it was even faster than tweaked winme with 1 sec. but with 2481 pro it looked like booting a little bit slower same with 85, 86 n now with 2494 personal boot is nearly 10 seconds slower nothing different I installed all tweaked anyone else noticed that ?
-
of course I did, as I say nothing is different with me didn't install new software or such anyway waiting for Rc1 is logical
-
when I try to install sisoftsandra2001, 3dmark2000, powerdvd, windvd, hdtach .... I get the same error at the beginning of the installition that : windows can't uncompress and copy the setup files...(xp2475) both pro n per All of those programs were installing n working with 2462. it looks like a easy error but anyway I couldn't solve , any guess plz ?
-
2481 now here n that shxt error is still here, that annoys me very much. there are prpgrams I need to install n can't just bc of that. !!!!!!!!
-
I was ready for 3dmark2001 to crash again, but IT DIDN'T this time. Also 3dmark2001 score is almost same with win9x, 3dmark2000 score is better than 9x ) and with only 128 mb ram. Else boot is faster even then before. No problem for now )) Built in defragment is working great too.
-
guyz any of u that having problem with 3dmark2001 before , could find a solution ? or reason why it doesn't do the second test's second part getting mad n I want to solve this

I installed and tried ME for weeks. But I couldn't resist to bugs and turn back to 98. Then I tried 2000, n I fall in a love with 2000. It was perfect. Only problem was, it was slower than me for games. At that time I was using a BX mobo. After I upgraded to AMD and via, I again installed ME . This time something was different?? firstly, 24 hours passed and I didn't have any problems. Then weeks and months, and still didn't have any problems. I don't understand this. It's so stable n fast. Only logical thing is ME works better with AMD, for me. U may say, hey probably u installed new drivers. yes I installed but, I was having problems with ME n BX mobo even after installion. Now running XP , and I love nt core, but I want my hardware's speed, and I don't want unneccesary stuff working behind, eating my ram and cpu. The biggest dissapointment at XP for me is, I tried both pro n per, and Personal doesn't seem like a real personal version. It still has unneccary stupid protocols working behind. Yes, I can tweak, but why??? If I will tweak why there is personal version [This message has been edited by oaydin (edited 10 April 2001).]
