    Win2k3 Member Server Question

I am having problems with w2k3 server being a member server on a w2k domain. When I go into My Network Places, i can see the domain under Microsoft windows Networking, but when i double click the domain it takes about 20 seconds, then an error pops up : "<Domain> is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the Administrator of this server to find out if ytou have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." This is causing problems, as i have Mcafee E Policy Orchestrator running on this server and when it searches the domain to add clients to the server to push its agent and AV updates, it uses network neighbourhood to view the pcs, but none are obviously there?? Any ideas regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Rob
  2. Hi Guys I have an issue where there are too many admins at work and the IT manager wants to reduce the number of admins. But the demoted guys need printer and user operator, and access to tweak and amend settings on a w2k pro workstation. Unfortunately this has come about due to certain admins trawling through highly confidential info on the file servers, and this has to be stopped!!!! Any help would be highly appreciated, thanking you all in advance!! Rob

Restricting Admin usage on w2k servers

Hi, tried printer op, user op, and administrator!!!! and yes by changing folder permissions to ent admin, they cannot access the folder, but they can log onto the server and add themselves back, so they can open it any more ideas??? these uses still have to have admin access to workstations so thay can add them onto the domain, or change network settings etc!!!!!

    tekram 390f problem

hi guys I've had an IBM x230 server running a tekram 390f scsi card with default sysbios logic drivers for a few months now with no problems. This afternoon i decided to up the drivers to the correct tekram 390 drivers from there site. After installation and reboot the server bsod with the error STOP DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO. Bugger me i though, this is the company's file server. So i tried to get the server back in safe mode to remove the tekram driver, but the same error?? started to sweat a bit by this time, so i tried last known good configuration??? Nope, still the same error. The only way to get it back was to physically remove the card. Now this gets me thinking? from the error i can deduce that its possibly a driver error (DOH) but also something to do with the IRQ of it possibly. But the card ran for a few months perfectly well. Has anyone got any possible explaination for this? or had a very similar problem they could tell me about. Thanking you guys in advance Frosty!!

  9. is this possible?????? i'm a bit of a newbie to the w2k and solaris networking but they have been discussing it at work. I heard nt4 and solaris are fine, but w2k has a higher encription level which solaris can't use or something like that?????? do any of you gurus know if this is true and shed some light on the subject, as i'm trying to prove a point with my boss!!!!!! if this has already been discussed, pls don't flame me, just point me in the right direction!!!!!!!
