    Nvidia 40.72 & Games

I tried the Nvidia 40.72 with Links 2003. After installing the Nvidia 40.72, Links 2003 ran fast...however, I started to get some video glitches. The glitches seems to occur when changes were made on the screen...like moving the pointer around or having dialog boxes popup. The gameplay was fine, but it was not as good as the previous driver versions. I have not tried these with all my games yet. Has anyone else noticed problems with these drivers? Regards, javajeff

    Ok best anti-virus for WinXP?

EZ Antivirus is the best and cheapest way to get great protection. www.my-etrust.com I have been using it for over one year. They just launched a new version that has 2/3 of the program running as services. The definition frequency is high....sometimes they release more than one update in a day. They have definitions come out every week, and the support has been excellent. They charge $20 for the first year and $10 for each subsequent year. Unlike other AV Programs, you get new software upgrades with your subscription as well as the regular definition files. Therefore to equal the price of one year of the most popular retail product at $50, you would have to use EZ Antivirus for 4 years. Regards, javajeff

Winxp - Email Clients - What do you prefer?

I am in a similiar situation trying different email clients. If you want a fast program that is feature rich, try Pegasus mail. Version 4.01 has more bugs and more features than 3.12c, so you may want to try them both. Regards, javajeff

    Your Favorite Email Program/s?

I use CopyTo to backup everything. http://www.ne.jp/asahi/cool/kish/ I am currently using Mozilla Mail. With Mozilla, I can set my profile directory and then use CopyTo to synchronize it to another hard drive. I synchronzie My Documents, websites, and all personal data in less than one minute. It is the best $10 that I have ever spent on a software program. Try it for FREE. Regards, javajeff

Windows XP Service Pack 1 anytime soon?

BladeRunner: You are missing the point. The other product is FREE. openoffice.org is FREE. FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE, FREE. How do you compete with free software? This is why MS killed Netscape. A taste of their own medicine if you ask me. Open source is a thorn in their side. Regards, javajeff

Windows XP Service Pack 1 anytime soon?

StarOffice is built on OpenOffice.org. Sun opened the source by creating OpenOffice.org. If you buy StarOffice at $75 instead of using the free OpenOffice.org, you get a database application, additional fonts, and some other small features with one technical support call. If you only need a word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation package, they are both the same. StarOffice is more likely going to be a choice for larger corporations that want to buy a support oriented package. Regards, javajeff

Windows XP Service Pack 1 anytime soon?

openoffice.org is a free office suite that is compatible with Microsoft Office. It does not have dancing paperclips though. Anyone will find it easy to use, and not feel like it is different than MS Office. It has all the features that I need and will always be updated by the open source community. With an incredible free program like this available, I do not see why people would pirate software. Download it and try it out: Windows download: http://sf1.mirror.openoffice.org/1.0.0/OOo_1.0.0_Win32Intel_install.zip http://ny1.mirror.openoffice.org/1.0.0/OOo_1.0.0_Win32Intel_install.zip ftp://infinet.idlegames.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/1.0.0/OOo_1.0.0_Win32Intel_install.zip ftp://ftp.mn-linux.org/linux/openoffice/1.0.0/OOo_1.0.0_Win32Intel_install.zip Official Website: www.openoffice.org Regards, javajeff

DHCP server, How do you do ?

It is all automatic with 2 NICS in 1 computer. NIC 1 connects to your internet connection (WAN). I have a static in my case, but you may have DHCP or PPPOE. The second NIC gets no values at all. Then under Network Connections, right click your WAN NIC and choose properties. The advanced tab has the Internet Connection Sharing. With that checked, both computers get assigned local IPs and can share files in conjuction with File and Print Sharing. Regards, Jeff

    Does winXP have ACPI problems?

I always do a non ACPI install. At the beginning of the install when it asks you to hit F6, you hit F5 instead. Then choose Standard PC. Another option that worked for me once in Windows 2000 was to change drivers in Device Manager from ACPI to Standard PC. This is not recommended by Microsoft. What ever you decide, you cannot go back without a full install. Regards, javajeff
