Easiest Way to get the TV Tuner working when the video is scrambled is to right click on ure desktop (which brings up a popup menu) right after u launch the TV Tuner. For some reason when the popup window is up while the TV Tuner loads it screws with the overlay and then the video becomes clear. But it only works when the app is loading, not while its already loaded. And if already have the application loaded and say u go to record mode and then back to TV mode it gets scrambled again, the easiest trick i use is to bring up a Command Prompt window. Just Type CMD in the run dialog box, and then full screen it (ALT-ENTER) and then type exit to close it, and then the TV Tuner should be unscrambled again. Someones gotta nag ATI about this problem, cause its the same problem they had when Win2K comes out. I use a Geforce2 MX and it runs perfectly in Win2K with the 7.1 Set but has that Scrambled Video Problem in XP. I don't think ATI actually tests these drivers with anything besides their own video card products, and i tend to believe that owners of Radeons or whatnot might not get these problems.

Used to happen back when Madden 2001 came out with Windows 2000, then one of their updates fixed the problem. Never fear, i have the same problem as you. I guess EA will eventually fix that when XP goes retail

OK this is a weird question I used to use the shutdown command that came with Win2K to schedule autoshutdowns at night, for times i download stuff and then go to bed with the PC on. The file is shutdown.exe located in the system32 dir. In WinXP Beta 2, if i run the command it defaults to Logging the User off. Now if i specify some switches i can get it to perform a shutdown, but it won't turn off the PC, its gives the the good old Win NT4 message of "It is now safe to turn off your computer". Anyone else have this problem, or know how to get it to turn off completely? Nevermind, i figured out my problem, i can use the Network shutdown command tsshutdn.exe also located in the System32 directory and it shutsdown my PC just fine [This message has been edited by Jr8110 (edited 08 April 2001).]

I can't get this joystick to work in XP, it just won't detect when i plug it into any of my USB ports. Has anyone had luck getting this joystick working? Oh yeah XP RC2 is what i'm using right now.

Glad to be of service -
Did u try to update Madden 2001 to the latest patch? I remember in Win2K Madden 2001 ran really bad, very unplayable, then they put out a patch that fixed all my problems.

Beta 2 (build 2462) + Geforce 2 MX... best detontator driver

AHA! I found a good solution for my problem. I decided to examine the Native OS drivers and found out they were Nvidia 10.40 drivers. So i went out and i got myself the Nvidia 10.40 drivers to see if mebbe it'll help with both DVD playback and games, since it seems to work for the most part. Well to my surprise, i can play DVDs, watch MPGs and Play my games just fine. A couple games that didn't work with the Native OS drivers work now. SO try the 10.40 drivers and maybe u'll be as lucky as me. http://www.3dchipset.com/beta/nvidia/1040/win-2k.html -
Beta 2 (build 2462) + Geforce 2 MX... best detontator driver

Well i did as explained in another forum about reinstalling the 10.x or 11.x drivers and swapping the nv_disp.dll with one from version 7.x (I used the one from the WHQL version). And like you i got a nice BSOD everytime i boot up into XP, what u need to do, as explained in the other forum is... reboot into safe mode, go into device manager and delete the Geforce MX entry. when u reboot back into XP normally it'll redetect the Display, BUT it'll reinstall its WDM built in drivers. The thing is.. i think the registry is confused, because even though it'll put on the native OS drivers, u can still access all the extra NVIDIA settings in the Display Settings, and if u take a look at drivers versions u should see that ure nv_disp.dll is 7.x while the rest are 10.x or 11.x depening on which version u used. Now my DVDs work good and so do SOME games. Not ALL that worked under 11.x by itself. too bad.. but its as good as it gets for now i guess -

Unfortunately, ure not the only one out there suffering, i just ran all kindsa tests with XP Beta 2 and got the same problems you got. For drivers 6.x and 7.x the Video works great, and lotsa games have all kindsa issues. When u switch over to either then 10.x or 11.x drivers, then ure games are just fine and Media Player blows up as well as my WinDVD when i close it. I guess the choice is one or the other. If u use the default XP drivers for the MX u can get video and mebbe some games might run. I have some games working ok and my DVD/Media Player work ok with the standard XP drivers. But i know not all my games work.
