I bought a Coolermaster IHC-L71 and was wondering if its possible to replace the fan? If so it needs a 70x70x25mm but i need something around 4000rpm and i need it to be a UK retailer, i dont know wether 70mm are available or if i can get an adapter to make it 80mm. Thanx guyz

Checked there and they have no 70mm adapters or fans

Well guys i have Longhorn alpha running on my comp now. its kind of nice looking but its not very responsive and there is problems with the preview bar in my computer and folders but other than that it is XP with some new improvements. Quite nice really

Quote: I get the same problem with my DVDDrive on my P4, i had this problem when i had my AthlonXP on it, so i am figuring for the time being that its the drive or cable. I only get problems copying from CD-R's so i have to use my Writer for that. Well its strange because i just bought a 48x LG CDRWDRive and that is working at UDMA2 and my DVDDrive is working at UDMA2 aswell. :x Man computers are crazy, maybe my older CDRW Drive hogged the IDE Channel or something?

I didnt want the 6000rpm fan version of this HSF because of noise but the 2500rpm is a little to slow really for overclocking. Il try around a few retailers sites and see what i can find. Must be something somewhere.

Well guyz i am thinking of going for a £100ish 18GB 10krpm SCSI drive to use for booting windows and using on a few games. would this improve windows performance at all compared to my 7krpm IBM's? If so is it anoth improvement to sacrifice a weeks wages too? Thanx guyz

Quote: Quote: I most probably will go for a smallish scsi drive for windows a maybe 1 or 2 games to run on. I'd also recommend you place your swap file on that drive. yep i could make anotha partition on it for the swap also Sounds good, definatley will get 1 in a month or 2

Im just using the stock fan and have my 2.53 at 2.70, the highest temp i have seen is 44C (Makes a change from 60C on my Athlon XP )at load using Asus Probe (which probably isnt totally accurate) but when i am in windows browsing or playing music it sits at about 32C-36C so im wondering if you guyz think i could get 2.8 or would that be pushing it?

Quote: Quote: I havent turned this machine off since i got it 7days ago, aslong as you class standby not being off. Which technically on a P4 Standby is off I saw that video and that is what made me decide i shud go for a P4 then i found they use 2500rpm fans to keep cool and i just gave in to the almighty Intel and bought 1. By the way jim what type of fan is on your Swiftech MCX4000? YS Tech TMD fan Model #PD1270155B-2F 74 x 15mm / 37 cfm @ 5800 rpm - 39dBA Actual quite a reasonable sound level. Review at http://www.overclockers.com/articles603/ I've also got a Lian Li PC-60; that also helps with the temp. Iv had a 6000rpm fan before and i can say i dont tolerate noise levels, i hated my Athlon because it used a 4800rpm fan and i couldnt hear my tv with it on, now i can hear my tv and leave the comp on , you just gotta love the P4

Just bought a new 4D Optical mouse and a 48x LG CDWriter -
Ok guyz at first i was looking to buy a P4 2.4Ghz 533 with an Asus P4B533-E motherboard but i came across a dual Asus Socket A board and i am now thinking of getting a dual Athlon MP 2200+ with an Asus A7M266-D, this means though that i wont have a computer at christmas and will have to wait until january to get this and it will cost an extra £100. I dont know what to do at the moment so im wondering what you guys reckon on this? The comp will be used for Gaming mainly and i am ordering a MSI GF4 Ti4600 and a sony 21" monitor next week so i am a heavy gamer really! Any suggestions on what i should do would be good, thanx guyz
-
I was gonna go ATi but its £70 more and it has problems running some games and also i found out it has problems displaying textures in UT2003 I thought id go GF4 and im happy with it. Also they sold out of the 21" Sony Monitors so im waiting to see if they get anymore in and if not im gonna go for a 19" Philips (the worlds smallest CRT monitor with a front to back space requirement 8) )

Wat would be best to use for my Creative GF4 Ti4600?? Thanx for your input

My new P4 Monster in my sig which still has to have the drives and monitor renewed yet and i hope to have another 1GB of ram eventually but im poor now , and i havent had time to put my xp1800 in place of the Duron crap, my sis is to get the duron
-
Well i only have Unreal Tournament on it so far and all my drivers, i shud have my GF4 tomorrow so i am looking forward to this , Cant wait to see it running things like medal of honor. Thanx guyz for all your help! I'm more than happy with this system.
-
The system is so much more responsive than any AMD system i have , i dont mean speed wise, it just feels nicer to use. Like when you drive a car, some are nicer to drive and make you feel comfortable, etc while others feel weird and you cant pin point the exact problem. Anyway i love the P4's standby, i thought it had turned off altogether but when on standby it turns off all fans, etc "WOOW" And i thought what the hell and ordered my Sony 21" Trinitron Monitor and a Creative GF4 Ti4600 now :x Never been any happier with any other computer 8)

Well got my P4 and board and put it together and the only thing i can say about it is AMAZING!!!!
