Well guys in the end i came to my senses and went for 2.533ghz 533mhz P4 with Asus P4S533-E with 512mb Samsung 333mhz ram. And i am putting my gf4 off till xmas coz they sold out.

Does the AthlonXP 2200+ run cooler than the 2100+??

Just i was wondering with the 2200+ being 0.13 micron and the 2100+ being 0.18 micron

Im gonna buy a dual athlon mp system and was wondering if the 2200+ Athlon MP is 0.13 or not? and also if there is a 2400+ or above out yet? Thanx guyz

In my last post i ment by unlocking the XP's to MP capable by connecting the L5 Bridge. Sorry to cause any confusion

If the Asus A7M266-D motherbaord can handle a single Athlon XP2400+ it should see 2 as MP2400+ if i get these unlocked? Anyone know of a better board that will see it as an MP instead of XP with one setting change? Id rather buy a board that definatley can see xp as mp and spend a few pound more.

One of my reasons is that i found when i try to burn a cd, i cannot use my pc to run a game. Apparently having 2 cpu's this can be advantage that 1 will run a game and the other can burn a cd, I do a lot of cd burning and like to be able to do something over than browsing the internet. If i can get 2 Athlon XP CPU's running dually then this will save about £130 and i could use the extra to have 2400+ XP's that have thoroughbred core using 0.13 micron, Thus this should be the case if the A7M266-D can handle a 2400+ it should be able to think its running dual Athlon XP 2400+

Anyone know of a tutorial/How to online that shows you getting 2 Athlon Xp's Dualing?

The 1700+/1800+/1900+ XP's are definatley under 0.18 micron, i dont know wther AMD changed to 0.13 at 2000+ or something?

Iv decided to go Dual Athlon MP, i dont think i want to go away from AMD a iv had no problems with them at all. Thanx guyz for all your input, etc

When i compare the 2 boards, i get USB 2 on both but the P4 board has Raid which to be honest i will not use coz i cant fill 140GB's of HDD as it is but they will be upgraded next year anyway. P4 has been known to have excellent compatibility and not known to crash but yet i have never had any probs with my AMD systems. Also i know nothing about P4 systems as i havent had 1 or built 1 even. So even at that i might be better to stick to AMD. The boards both also take DDR RAM 266mhz. Iv heard some great things about Dual processor machines and toms hardwares benchmarks prove what they can do compared to single processor system

Apparently you can run Dual Athlon XP, so maybe this is an idea rather than Dual Athlon MP. A pair of Athlon XP 2100+ and the Asus A7M266-D board will be cheaper than a P4 2.53 and the Asus P4B533-E board, but looking at the Asus site on info of the A7M266-D it will only take a single Athlon XP??http://www.asus.com.tw/mb/socketa/a7m266-d/overview.htm .If this is the case i could at least purchase a single Athlon MP2200+ and then get another when i get my next pay.

Well usually it would be straight to AMD but i am sick of AMD now, this 1800XP is my 6th AMD Computer and i have had 1 cyrix but as yet never had a Pentium 4, i am definetly thinking of P4 2.53Ghz and a P4B533-E w/ 1GB DDR RAM. As i think Athlon MP's may not really be for gaming, I am wanting to adventure into something new like P4 or Dual Athlon though. Does anyone know anybody that owns a dual Athlon MP system and does gaming? Does the Athlon MP have 3DNow+ ? I would think it would be an Athlon XP that can handle being with a second processor.

Power supply was fine with my Gigabyte- GA7DXR+, its 400watt so power shouldnt be an issue.

I have an issue with my K7S5A board at the minute, when i turn it on it doesnt start up at all and i have to keep pressing reset till it boots which is a pain in the backside, maybe i just need a bios upgrade.

The price of a 3.0ghz is a bit OTT so iv got the choice between these 2 or at max a 2.53ghz P4 at the moment

I had a problem with my old fan, it was running at 4500rpm instead of 6000 for sum reason but i replaced with a 70mm 4800rpm hsf which i am getting tops of 48C when when running the comp for 2days running unreal tournament mostly thru that time. Plus i bought my aluminium case which helps a large amount which i wasnt really expecting it to at first.

For the high mem usage i would say that is the reason but i wouldnt be too shure about the overheating. My xp1800 would crash or restart some times but this cpu was getting over 65C.

If i was you, i would try something like powerdvd just to make sure the sound problem lies in WinDVD, have you also checked that your speaker are set to 4 in the sounds and audio devices panel?

First of all 128MB RAM isnt really a decent amount of ram for Windows 2000 so you can expect it to be high usage. Secondly have you checked your Temps on the cpu? A high temp could be casuing the restarting/crashing problem you have.

We were going to sell the 1.2 but my sister wants it is going to her for xmas. we realised just how much we wud loose from wat we payed for it.

Well its AMDDuron 1.2 and AMDXP1800 at 1.56Ghz and in 2 weeks i will have my new 2.4Ghz P4 or 2.53 depending on my cash, then i will have 3 comps which is ridiculous

Hi guyz, Does anyone know which phono wire goes into the subwoofer input and which goes to the centre input on an amp? would it be the red or the white that goes into the sub channel on the amp :x . This is from my audigy soundcard to the six channel in on my sony amp. Thanx guyz

Seems weird that you have the mobo down from my 1.2 system. Winder if theres maybe a complete bug with this board. Just a thought

I have this exact same problem on my 1.2 Duron System, never figured out how to fix it yet :x
