I dont have optical out on my audigy and i dont have optical in on my amp, so even having optical out would be know good as my amp doesnt have those connections.

Yes the digital provides the centre/sub channels, i will have a mess about and see what happens and maybe il send an e-mail to creative and see what they say about it. Thanx guyz

i didnt get an audigy platinum i got the standard player so i cant use optical and theres no optical on my amp anyway. Any ideas which it wud be for the centre and which for the sub?

This week i bought the following - 1. Creative Audigy Player 2. Lain-Li Aluminium Case 3. 2 80MM Case Fans with LED's (Looks cool when the light comes through the front of the case) :x 4. A new CPU Fan with Blue LED's 5. An ECS K7SFA Skt A Motherboard 6. Sony STRDE375 Dolby Amplifier (only used for my pc to attach my new audigy so i can get 5.1) 7. Eltax Movieboxx 5.1 (to connect to the sony amp) This week i broke the following - 1. Gigabyte GA-7DXR+ Motherboard and i had to replace it with the ECS which is not going to compare to my Gigabyte board which had the world on it.

Can i configure Linux to get onto the internet on my cable connection through a WinXP Computer. I have it setup WinXP -> WinXP and want to set it up as Linux Mandrake 9beta 2 -> WinXP to access the internet

Ok guyz, i bought a new case at the weekend and decided to put my comp in it that night. I did just that and did it carefully now the computer will not turn on. I stripped it to the basics (CPU,1xRAM,VIDEO) and it still wudnt turn on. I then got my cpu tested incase it was dead but it worked in a mates system.I have 2x 256mb ddr ram modules so i find it hard to believe its both of them fried. My GeForce3 has never had a problem either. My last hope was to put it all back in the old case incase the aluminium one was shortening the m/baord out but it still doesn't work in the old case. i am puzzled and i have definatley not scratched the mobo. I need help urgently....! Thankyou guyz

I checked the screws and i have one problem that one has jammed itself into the gold connector on the case. its the same screw and it went in without a fight so i dont know how this has happened. As for front connections i am trying it with just the powerswitch and i have tried it both ways round incase that was grounding the board. As i say i have it in my old case now so the video card is fine. I am getting my geforce3 checked today in another system and a mates gonna look at the system for me aswell

Its using the same components, even the PSU is identical as the new case did not come with a PSU. I have double checked cables and the only cable in it is the power Switch cable which i have tried both ways round incase it was shortening it.

Hi guyz, im thinking of going Intel P4 2.4Ghz 533 with an ASUS P4B533-E and this will be a big leap for me as i have only ever run AMD systems and i have had 8 in totol. So should i jump the boat? Mainly i want to go Intel coz they have sorted heat issues with there cpus and they are much sturdie systems than AMD's.

This may sound dumb, but when i install summin like realplayer how do i run it coz there is no entry in the mandrake menu like windows puts in the start menu. Thanx guyz

I'm thinking of buying a Thermalright SLK-800 and im just wondering how it compares to other heatsinks, im thinking of getting maybe a 3000-4500RPM 80MM Fan with it. as i am not struct on noise.

DVD Recorders are the way we should go forget these, with a dvd recorder we can keep programs but with these the programs have to be deleted to record another. I see them as a big step back when we cant keep our programs like on VHS Tapes.

I was gonna buy the DAVS500 in 2weeks but i came across the DAVS550 But when i try to look this up, google doesnt find much and www.sony.co.uk dont mention it which seems strange. It is £50 more and has Dolby Pro Logic 2 and MP3 playback plus an extra 20watts on the subwoofer power compared to the davs500, i would like some info on it like sony provide on the website for davs500 and i would also like to know if it has the fancy control like the davs500/800 and the headphone theatre modes. Downstairs it says i have an AMD Duron Processor and Upstairs it says i have an Athlon XP 1800+ and i have an updated driver for the Athlons on XP which M$ released on Windows Update.

Iv known this site for a bit now and i think its great, some guy that updates a lot. He has SP1 and recent updates all to do with Microsoft programs, beta's and more. WindowsXP site

I dont think they will keep 9x/2000 support because M$ are trying to completely scrap those OS and push everyone into getting XP. After all i dont blame them, if i ran a company like that i would do the same thing 8)
