    Abit Hotrod100 pro+w2k=very slow boot

I had the windows swap file in second IDE drive (quantum). When I moved it back to the boot drive (samsung) the boot time reduced from 15 minutes to 1 minute. Wow!
  2. Quote: Here's the situation: I'm running win2k professional with sygate home network on the server pc to share my pppoe dsl connection. On the client pc i have a win98/win2k dual boot. I don't use dhcp, i gave both computers their own ip, configured the gateway and dns server the right way. In win98 the internet connection works fine. But in win2k after the boot, when i try to run IE it says it cannot find the internet connection, it gives me 2 options: "try again" and "work offline". When i click try again internet works fine. Why can't IE find internet the first time but the first time it works fine? Have you tried SP1 for w2k? I had the same problem, which disappeared with SP1 and/or IE5.5.
  3. I have installed a hotrod RAID card (with HPT 370 chip). It has the latest bios and drivers. The first few times windows 2000 boots normally, but now it stops for 5-10 minutes in middle of the boot process. After continueing the booting, the system works normally without troubles. Is there something to do with this delay? There are no IRQ-conflicts (and I am using standard-PC hal). Should I make a clean install? My system is: Asus P5A-B AMD K6-2/500 MHz (not overclocked) 192 MB PCI-100 RAM Samsung SpinPoint 10 GB (in HR-IDE0) Quantum L? 10 GB (in HR-IDE1) Sony 140E-CD/RW (in Asus-IDE0) SBLive! Ati Xpert2000 Ethernet Card (winbond chipset) Abit HotRod 100 Pro RAID (HPT 370)
