Hi all, I am running NT on a 10 GB HD. System on 2.5 GB partition Data on 3 GB partition Free on the rest After installing Linux Mandrake 8.0 on the free space, I was unable to see Data partition anymore Linux partitions / on 300 MB swap on 390 MB /usr on 3000 GB /home on the rest NT Disk Administrator can see the Data partition but it is not recognised. I can explore Linux partition using Explore2fs from NT so I suppose that the table partition is ok. Is there a way to recover Data partition ? BTW, does anybody knows also free tools to write ext2fs/ntfs in both sens ? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am looking for a method to change the profile path ( registry / variable ). I really need it asap for fine tuning on a Terminal Server. There is already a scheduled script to clean up local profiles older than x days and folder is also compressed but it is not enough Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look in your device manager if ACPI is correctly managed by your computer. => Start / Settings / Control Panel -> System ( Hardware tab ) If not, be sure to have enabled it in your bios and installed the latest mobo drivers. FYI : http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q266/1/69.asp Hope this will help you.

Did you check hdd with manufacturer utilities ? Is there anything reported in the event log ?
-
Did you updated all the drivers ? VIA Mobos with AGP cards needs at least the AGP patch. Without this, your computer MAY freeze when special features of your graphic card are needed as the bus cannot deliver enough power ... Btw ... Please ensure to use the last drivers : Mobo -------------- : http://www.dfi.com Via Chipsets ------ : http://www.viahardware.com ( unofficial ) http://www.viatech.com( official ) Graphic Card ------ : http://www.3dchipset.com Hope this will help you.

The best is to delete just the drives that you need one by one or NET USE * /D /Y ***** Begin Here ***** @Echo Off :UMap Net Use X: /d /y Net Use F: /d /y ... :Map Net Use X: \\server1\share1 /y Net Use F: \\server1\share2 /y ... :End Exit ***** End Here ***** Regards.

It is in the Resources Kit for NT4, I did not have a look to the Win2K ResKit if it is there ...

You just have to reinstall your TCP/IP to resolve this.

Did you check your connection to internet ? What is the respond time when you try to access a web site or ping a IP ? I am running NT5 SP2 Office2K ... Diablo2 and it works fine In your case, it sounds like a poor network connection as it happens when you try to use network. Any messages in your Event Log ? What about running applications without internet access like the game ?

check setting for "OS Plug N Play" and try to disable it so BIOS "keeps the hand" on hardware configuration. You should also have a option for USB Keyboard ... you should check for it as it gives you the option to enable usb keyboard by the bios ;( and access it before it is managed by a OS.

Regarding printer sharing, it must be done manually. To remove administrative shares ... see http://www.jsiinc.com/suba/tip0000/rh0096.htm If your computer is on a network, be aware that administrators are always able to create any shares trought the server manager until you set locally policy but it is for big paranoia people ....

Simple right click on folder or stuffs that you want to share and select SHARING ... option You will be prompted for share name and permissions. Regards.

Should work fine. Did you install the specifics VIA drivers ? ---> http://www.viahardware.com (lastest news) ---> http://www.viatech.com (official) Regards
-
Perhaps could you have a look to the Event Log to see if the drivers which failed to load are corrupted or if the device is missing. Then have a look if you are using the last drivers provided by the manufacturer and if ensure that you apply SP if you change some things like network component ... Good luck

Works fine. We have implement this in our network to give access to some users from home.
