I was wondering if there is a way to limit the upload speeds in XP Pro. I have a problem when sharing files if someone maxes my upload speed (16k/s) my download drops below 5k/s. Though if I don't allow my uploads to surpass 13k/s I'm fine.

I was wondering how you can set the paging file to very end of hd in xp.
-
Can anyone tell if there is a program that would allow me to move the pagefile to the end of the disk then.

Its your via 4in1 drivers, I had the same problem until I uninstalled them. I have a 1.2ghtz machine with a Radeon64 ddr retail and its works great. As for their driver releases, its kinda hard to say at the moment since ATI is switching to the unified driver structure for their release of the new 8500. So you should see new drivers with the release of the radeon8500. I personally don't like nvida cards (pre geforce3) because their 2d image quality just plain and simple sucked. So if you do switch I would suggest the gf3.

I agree with you a 100%.

Thanks BladeRunner, I didn't feel like wiping and doing a clean install...sheesh it took long enough to get everything working again that I don't want to go through that again. Though I am inclined to agree with Four and Twenty if you can wipe it and not think twice thats probably the recommended way of doing it.

I figured it out, and boy was it stupid. It would ask for my windows 2000 cd, but I had to put my xp cd in to finish the install. Hehehe, next time I'll just read a little more into it.

I have a problem with office 2000 also, it will install most of it then give me an error and then tells me to reinsert the disk. Well I went to my employer and borrowed their office 2k premium disk and it did the same thing. All in all I borrowed 4 office 2k disks from friends and co-workers to find out none of them work. Yet it installed fine under 9x & win2k.

Ok, I have XP rc1 with the 3224 drivers (and man its been a fight from word go) I finally can capture video under mmc 7.1, but now there is no audio. When I go to edit best quality capture there is no audio choices...its grayed out (as if no sound card). I can play video in no problem (has sound) but as soon as I capture there is no sound. Even when I tried virtual dub it wouldn't capture sound. I already checked and its set to record line-in. I have a TB Santa Cruz with the Win XP beta drivers. Has anyone found a fix or work around for this...or even experienced this problem? Maybe I'll just go back to windows 2000.

I should of said I'm using the radeon64 ddr vivo, not the AIW. Will it work anyways? I'm just about to try anything.

Ok I installed XP rc1 to see what its like, and I think its cool to look at. Now my problem is when I drop a dvd in the drive and ati pops up it gives me the errors of "Playback has failed due to one of the following problems: 1)Audio device is in use or not installed. 2)Display overlay is not available. 3)Not evough video memory." Then when I try to run it on windows media player 8 I get an error that says its currently unable to play dvd video and click for details. When I click for details it wants me to troubleshoot which is useless and has an error id which is "Error ID = 0xC00D116A, Remedy ID = 0x00000000" I'm using ati's mmc 7.1 with dvd 4.1 and the xp 3210beta drivers. I also never had problems with the dvd player under win2k, and when I installed powerdvd it works fine.

It really doesn't bug me to use it, but the thing that does is I have to ctrl alt del a bunch of programs before it will work...basically I'm just running the mandatory minimum system files to use the dvd player, I guess thats what bugs me more. I mean I can use powerdvd and not have one problem with it, but these two give me error after error.

Well I tried to run it in compatibility mode from win2k down to 95 and it still didn't work. I still get the same errors as I did above. When I tried to use WMP8 I got Windows Media Player is currently unable to play DVD video. Click Details, and then click troubleshooter for information about configuring your computer to play DVDs. I will then click details and this is what it says Windows Media Player is currently unable to play DVD video A troubleshooter is available to help you solve this problem. Error ID = 0xC00D116A, Remedy ID = 0x00000000 I've used the troubleshooter and it didn't help. I've gone through and shut down everything I could finally get WMP8 to work, but not ati's.

Ok we had win2k installed on my work computer(I'm the guiniea pig) and when I did a system run through and test the video portion of the DX (ver.8) tests it says direct3d and agp texture acceleration are not available. The system is a custom built p2 450 with 512megs of ram, diamond viper v770 (tnt2 card) on an asus p2b mobo. Someone installed the Os about 2 weeks ago and it took freakin 4 days before I got the computer back. I don't want to have to wait another 3-4 days trying to do graphics on a 300mhtz with 64 megs of ram. When the computer ran win98 the dx test were ok. Is there anything I can do for this or just leave it alone? (I already reinstalled dx 8 and it didn't work).

Ok, I never bothered to check the sound and when I did test it I also get the "no hardware support for direct sound, using software buffering".
-
CUViper well I installed the official drivers on the machine and now it shows all the components of the video test in the diagnostic...When I test it though, I get a black screen and then it asks if I saw the spinning cube. Before I could see it work in software mode, but now the only 2 tests that work are first two in direct draw test (the black and white rectangle and the windowed bouncing cube) if anything goes full screen it doesn't show it now.
