Hi all, it's been a while but i couldn't figure out for the life of me why wheni try to install a driver or system update on this laptop running nt4 that it says i don't have privileges or rights to do so. this is off a fresh install the laptop contains about 16MB of ram but not sure how that would come into play personally. I've tried this any driver i've tried.. I've also tried earlier service packs like 3, 4, and 6a. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks ahead of time, Lester

update: got it figured out. gotta install the Lan card drivers os you can get the services functional

I don't think so.

IDE in single drive situations at times outdoes the scsi counterpart but when put under stress the SCSI wins hands down because of the complexity of the interface

same here rather small 900MB or so . .only because i deleted abunch of windows components that i didn't really need

yeah. I would still get a plextor over a yamaha. FOR THAT 90 MIN BURNING SWEETNESS I don't really need burn proof. I am still humming along w/ an 8x4x32 panasonic. haven't had a coaster since. Maybe because of win2k . .I don't know.

What are your system specs?

from what i understand, the 761 only supports DDR memory at the moment and there's a shade of doubt that it will ever support standard SDRAM

Well it's a bad purchase ..mainly due to the change in socket and die size, as every one said wait for the northwood version. And then wait for apps to become sse2 optimized and go mainstream then we'll see the p4's true colors. But in response to AMd/via..yeha i know what you mean. took me some time but it's all patched up and stable now. blood and sweat during those times. But worht it in the end.

Well from what i understand, crucial isn't the greatest overclocking brand, More like Mushkin and Corsair

I'm with u on that one brian. I've been patiently waiting for those to come out. I guess they're more into marketing gimmicks than actually improving product line

the only way i would see an increase in pci performance is overclocking the processor bus

the ata jargon is a marketing scheme nonetheless mainly due to fact that sustained transfer rates have yet to surpass or even meet the old 66MB /sec standard

It depends. What type of pIII do you have? the classic or the coppermine version? If the coppermine version should be easier and safer to overclock

What is the knock on quick formats ? I haven't really gotten this idea yet. but I guess it doesn't delete the content thoroughly correct?

Yeah it would or what you can do is span it across two drives ..now i'm gonna test that out myself pretty soon make sure it's not on a partition because it makes the drive do more than what it has to
