kgeissler, I'm using OE6, and thank you for your offer but I live in France and I don't think replacing a french version with an american one can solve the problem I'm facing... to mix languages is not indicated, isn't it ? But if you, or anyone else, could tell what services or process or dll or other programs OE involves and that might be the cause, I would greatly appreciate it !!!

In fact, it's just a comment: to switch the FROM field is no bother at all, just one or two clicks and that's it ! Quite simple I think. I use Eudora also, alternatively, and if it is more customizable, it is also more complicated to use. I think that Eudora's screen is a little to dense, on the contrary OE (5 or 6) is easier to navigate through. So, I repeat myself: to switch the FROM field is no pain at all in OE. That's all folks Ihad to say.

Please, be fair ! ATI has much improved his driver development since the first Radeon is out. So I can read more and more often almost on every forum. As for me, I'm still, sadly enough, stuck with my R128ProViVo and just crave for a little more speed/fps. As for now, I can still enjoy any game at 1152* res.! I plan to soon install the Radeon64ViVo in order to reach the 1600* res ! Faithful to ATI, I am !

Hi, on both my home and work pc, I get a warning by AVP informing me that the file "temp.in" is infected by I-Worm Hybris and cannot be disinfected. It seems to be related to Eudora since the file is located in C:\...\Qualcomm\...\spool\, though the only attachments I received were jpeg photos... Eudora download a message (without displaying the sender,object,time: a real ghost mail !), but no new message to be found in any of the mail boxes. Can't delete the file normally, have to use the command line, and that's it. The problem is it occured twice at home, and just once at work. I looked for the file, infected or not, on another pc and none to be found Any idea ? Thanx !

I got IE6 (french, I live in France) through a dvd featuring Visual Studio .Net, I installed it and found it is the 6.0.2483.0001 build. Is it the final version that has just come out ? Because, when I tried to update through 'ie6setup.exe', the program didn't see it was already IE6 installed and wanted to perform the update ! So, that is why I'm asking what is the build anyone can install through update (ie6setup.exe)? Thanx !

I also use Opera and much appreciate it, but it tends to crash often (v5.12, latest), but I do like the recovery system ! I also use IE6, but it's all 'new', I didn't really tested it yet, as time goes by....

I personally love ATI video cards ! Why do some of you puck on it ? This I don't understand... I began with the RagePro, then Rage128 and Rage128Pro, and I plan to install the Radeon 64 as soon as I have the bucks for it ! I can play DVD's whitout a glitch, and the latest games at 1024* or 1152* res, why ask for more ? Of course, I crave for the latest 3D effects (hardware antialiasing, pixel shading,...); be patient is my rule, I can wait for top notch products to lower their prices !... Show me someone flawless...?! ATI always comes with a solution; sooner or later might be their real problem... but why blame them so loud ?! I don't want to spit at Nvidia, in spite of the fact they're doing their best to gain access to a monopoly position just like some other Big Brother(s) Stay cool !

In my opinion, XP's aim is to gather office and home users to use the very same OS. It should end up with 2 things: a Win9x more stable, powerful, secured; and a Winnt more tolerant to newbies, nicer, more open to games and multimedia apps... Maybe the first OS approaching the next Perfect OS, what do you think ?

MDM means Machine Debug Manager. Rename MDM.exe that should be located under WINNT\System32 Del any entry related to MDM or Machine Debug Manager Disactivate Script Debuging in Internet Options. All this might help you to get rid of MDM.exe (source:TechNet Link paper from MS).

For your information, "msconfig" does not exist under Win2k, i.e to disable programs from startup, the best way I know is to del some entries in the 'Run' key (using Regedit); for other tricks and command i'll dig a little to find you some.

I do agree at 100% ! Upgrading the OS sometimes end up with twice the same folders ! Bad renaming of folders and such strange things... believe me, I've seen this many a time, so: DO A CLEAN INSTALL ! It's worth the time it takes...

You say you disabled it from start-up, but how ? Did you tried to delete an entry in the RUN key with regedit ? Hope it helps !

I don't know why, but my DVD drive is no more detected (take a look at my specs below) by bios at start-up... But the funny thing is that the DVD drive is real present and working great under Win2kPro... How on earth is this possible ? It completely bypasses my hardware knowledge... My bios is set to auto for all 4 ide channels, so what the hell is going on ? What could cause the bios not to detect the DVD ? If I want it to appear at start-up, I have to enter the bios, check all 4 ide channels, save and exit, and voila: I can see the DVD drive appear along with my HDDs ! Is it the mobo's bios fault (I doubt it, it's brand new, march 2001, with bios 1005 and 1006.003), the DVD drive itself (why ?) Thanx you all !

I personally use win2kpro, and to get the auto login, i set up my profile as Administrator WHITHOUT any password; i think it should perform the same on win2k server edition... try it and tell me

You need "glq1114.exe" to play quake in OpenGL mode, it woks like a charm, for the res. matter you need to enter params. in the command line of the shortcut, i.e.: c:\QUAKE\GLQUAKE -width 1600 -height 1200 -bpp 32 When installing GLQUAKE, uncheck the part reserved to 3DFX, you indeed don't need it ! Sorry for you, I am ! The game works flawlessly on my 'puter, and my spec. are not up to date... Might come from your video... ? Just guessing...
