activation for office xp final over the internet is only available twice. maybe for os as winxp it'll be more often, maybe, after beta-testing, not. ;(
-
I snapped up something about issues with mouse drivers too but I forgot where

by the way, does shelexec.exe still work unter 2000? find it via ftpsearch. To open .htm-file, have an autorun like shelexec index.htm only include shelexec.exe additionally on cd. it is 19kb of size.

whats this apptoservice anyway?: http://www.basta.com/ProdAppToService.htm

activation over the internet is only available twice. yes you can change every hardware except both mainboard and harddisk, and still no new key will be requested. but for re-install of win xp, NO hardware may be different to old system (except sound card).

just looking for your serial number. a) some widespread ones are maybe used by hundreds of different computers: then it becomes evident. some are used in the same company on several pcs: this can not be determined due to company firewalls blocking the ping, hiding the ip's - every company has one.

i think the samsung 770 17" has no dvi input, the samsung 170 17" has. they said that in a mag. But before buy, hav a 3D game run like unreal tournament, and play some minutes, find out how it feels. If you feel dizzy 8) , it is definitely too slow.

it's celeron at 125mhz - maths is not the juice to be with me
-
i meant the 800 mhz celerons at 112mhz, sorry. and the 850mhz limitation is for 100 mhz coppermines only (there are no faster ones available for 100mhz) - you cant use 133mhz coppermines on p3b-f at all, no matter which board revision.
-
lokk for the revision number printed on mainboard. then you can see whether you can only use the old pentium3 up to 600mhz or the new ones (coppermine), actually only up to 850mhz available. alternatives: if you can use the new ones, you may want to use the celeron800 at 75 mhz external front side bus, as this one can be used at that speed without any problems. other alternative: if you have an old mainboard or you are not sure, buy the cpu for socket370 and get an adapter for slot DELIVERING OWN VOLTAGE ;( . Make sure its one with own voltage regulator! Ask a good dealer!

aaaahh, the asus. RPC-1 - plays by hardware all regions. The last one not needing a patched firmware from farzeno (search www.google.com). Yep, lots of DVDs have an improved region code check - maybe that's the error. Visit http://dvd.box.sk .

just some xp technology there... browse http://www.cdfreaks.net (or was it http://www.cdfreaks.com ?) for further infos (it was several news, but dont know on which dates). Actually it is true that from SP2 onwards Microsoft wants to know a little bit more about the windows on your system. You get the same effects when running internet explorer 5.5sp1 on windows me, i've read there.

older harddisks, especially seagate, had the middle not fixed, but only laid upon the center. So it was spinning on the housing when mounting upside down. They couldn't even be mounted on side. But they were more silent when mounting upside down. But still too loud. Today, it shouldn't matter for this point. They're fixed tightly. But the head is very nearby the platter's surface - i guess it could get very close to the one side when mounting the wrong way. And thus increase the possibility of a headcrash. As the other side is farer away, access times could be slower due to more retries. Just benchmark it normal and upside down for to know if this is still a matter or not.

I must reinstall Win2000 then... My attempts were with older nvidia-drivers and SP1, which always resulted in coredumps over nv4disp.dll. However, Hangups resulted in this game under Win98SE, when it was not Unreal Tournament 4.36, but older. Hangups during gameplay generally over here result in either sound card eating up too many resources, or access to dvd-rom-drive during gameplay (those drives require ultra dma-mode, always a source for surprises in conjunction with atapi devices - just attach plextor burner 1210a and toshiba dvdrom 1502 both at the secondary ide of an asus p3b-f mainboard - all data read from toshiba arrives shreddered on harddisk).
