Hi, I hope someone can help me. I am running win2k with directx8.1 and I am having ptoblems with firewire. I have an external firewire hdd and this is detected fine. I also have an Epson Stylus photo 2100 which has a firewire port but when this is plugged in the system does not see it. I am having the same problem with a Panasonic camcorder. i am using a DLink firewire card. I was using a generic firewire card but changed it to the dlink just in case that was the problem. Nero have a fix for the burner problem on their web site. The scanner I don't know.

Mostly it does not matter how you orientate modern drives. However it may have an effect upon shock absobing. I know this applies to the Quantum Atlas 10K II. If you really want to know for a particular drive visit the drive manufacturers site. They have information as to how the drive should be mounted and used.
