For some reason, W2k randomly forgets its folder settings and reverts all the icons to large (instead of my preferred list). Win98 did the same thing before I upgraded, and I thought that took care of it... It must be registry related, because 98 ate its own registry, and would randomly revert the registry during boots. I disabled scanreg to solve that. Is there a good tool I can use to keep my registry in tact? I have MS Regclean, but it doesn't do much good (fixes 2-3 things first time thru, then run again and finds stuff it missed)

I use Loki's OpenGL patch with great results on my system.

Via 4n1's 4.32 Final and Nero 5.5... One or the other?

Via 4.3x series drivers are crap. They disable AGP 4x, cause instability, and have USB issues (both on my machine and the 2 at work) Use 4.29a Those work. -
Computersupersale.com has 256mb sticks of PC133 for $32.91

I had similar problems with it not saving the PW's for Dial-ups. I don't remember exactly how I fixed it, but I'm pretty sure it involved binding Client for Microsoft Networks to each dial-up profile.

When I try to drag folders around on the start menu, I get a "cannot move XXXX, the source folder is the same as the destination folder". Is there a way to fix this? I log on as the administrator if that's any help.

I also run 98 compatibility mode to keep the game from crashing with C++ errors.

Audiogalaxy works well for me.

Copies of the B+W CD will cause the program to hang while loading. There is a cracked runblack.exe floating around that overwrites the one on your hard drive and lets you use the copy.

I switched to W2k because 98 was royally pissing me off. What good is a few extra FPS, if the OS locks up, crashes, sh*ts itself, etc?

The via 4.3x drivers are crap... cause random lockups on both my machine (both in Win98 and 2k) and on both machines at work. They also disable AGP 4x and set it to 2x. Stick with the 4.29a drivers. They're stable.

Certain keys don't work in these games; I can't bind the ctrl key to crouch, like I had it in Win98. I also can't get into the chat screen in SS2. Any ideas?

Buy more RAM. You can get a stick of Micron PC133 256mb over at computersupersale.com for $39.

Good-bye POS 3Com/USR winmodem! No more system hangs when I forget to terminate the connection before shutting down, no more random firewall alerts from my own ISP, no more stall-outs! I love Zoom! The 3 other Zoom modems in the house (14.4, 33.6, v.90) never fried, but the non-Zoom modems (%Harmony%, 3com) both got toasted...

When I visit web pages that have "Microsoft", "Intel", or any other company Gates is butt-buddies with, IE underlines the name. Clicking on it will bring up an "company information" box. Is there any way to disable this crap?

Woohoo, it worked! I didn't know the technical name for 'em... thanks!

I say go for it... I recently added another 256meg stick to my system. It's sick how little my hard drive gets accessed during boot I paid $46 for name brand memory a few weeks ago, it's down to $40 now. The generic stuff only costs $30/stick! With prices this low, you can't afford NOT to buy RAM!
-
Not enough difference to justify the extra expense. I recently bought a stick of Micron 256mb PC133 from Computersupersale.com for $46. They've got it on sale for $40 now... The generic stuff is only $30! Gotta love falling RAM prices

Anyone know the diff between the 2 new DT drivers? (12.41 an

I have to use compatability mode because otherwise the game closes out and I get a C++ debug option box. I probably wouldn't have that problem if it weren't for the 3 compilers on my system -

Massive corruption, random triangles, disappearing textures, lines between independent objects... Hitman only has the problem in D3D. OpenGL works fine 'n dandy. It's also a good idea to run the game in 98 compatability mode, because otherwises, it crashes when you try to enter the first Vortex. -

The 12.x series have problems with Black and White and Hitman... I'm using the 7.91's right now with no problems. -
We had a lightning strike on the phoneline last night and my POS 3com/USR PCI winmodem is damaged. It won't hang up after disconnecting. I'm probably going to get a Zoom modem to replace it. I've narrowed it down to two modems: model 2920- hardware v.90 model 3025- controllerless v.92 Both are in the same price range. Which is the better choice?
