I am very sorry disturb, and hope that I am requesting in the proper manner.
I have searched for something on this, but come up empty, and would very much appreciate any help.
I have installed 2486, patched, with the fundamentals running fine.
Generally, my software is running fine, except I am running into problems with software like Office XP, and Adobe stuff which uses the .msi installation method.
'This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.' is the error that comes up from a shortcut click.
Software works fine immediately after installation, but this error comes up after another .msi based program is installed.
I had no such problems with 2428, which was the last build I used. I have reformatted and reinstalled 2486 three times, in vain, and tried installing different .msi-based software after a clean install, but it is no particular program causing the problem.
I have tried installing the Windows Installer from the Office XP CD before installing anything and that did not help either.
I can, for example run an Office program directly from it's .exe or a direct shortcut to it, but things are still not quite right.
I have read of people generally being very happy with the 2486 build, and other than this, I like it very much.
I am not in a position to obtain another later build as my ISP terms have become very restrictive/expensive, and would very much like to keep 2486, rather than going back to 2428.
I hope that my problem is not too stupid and/or pathetic.
Thank you very much for having read this far, anyway.
