there are some files i want to encrypt with a password so that only a person that knows the password can open the file... delete it, etc... how do I do that? can I encrypt folders?
-
I got PGB or what ever... it's secure... but a PAIN IN THE *** to use... I just want to encrypt my files but have them appear in normal form in explorer.... for instance i doublclick an encryped MS word file and when it opens it says something like "this file is encryped, insert your password to decrypt it"... Something simple, and easy...

I have bought a few products from Netgear only to find out they are pieces of sh1t and their drivers suck and don't work or barely work. The only advanted of some of their NICs is they are pretty fast, thats if you can get the damn things to work in the first place. Their HUBs and switches SUCK *** too! This is my opinion. I have dealt with it my self and seen others deal with it. CRAP! Anyone agree or disagree? Good points please.

Bahh! If you copy it to a non NTFS it is decrypted! Well that's lamo... Screw that... Are there any programs I can buy or download off the net that will encrypt something and password it?

This isnt Win2k related. But its hardware related. Is it safe to spray compressed air into a monitor to clean it? I wasnt completely sure. I dont see any problem with it but I want to make sure before I do it. The reason is it seems really dirty, at least it gets really HOT to where it emits a burning plastic smell that I dont like. So maybe it needs cleaned. Let me know thanks.

It seems on *SOME* programs I try to install I get this interesting error. TITLE BAR SAYS: 16 bit Windows Subsystem MESSAGE SAYS: SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers. VDD. Virtual Device Driver format in the registry is invalid. Choose 'Close' to terminiate the application. BUTTONS: Close and Ignore. Trying to get the damn program to install I click ignore. Everything seems to install fine. So you are probably saying "Deal with it!". But with as much stuff as I do on my system this little error gets annyoing. I am not an registry expert so I am asking for help. I tried getting Norton Utilities because I know it has fixed some registry errors for me. I know of other programs that I think exist but havent got to them yet. Does anyone have any suggestions? Programs to fix this? Or a manual way of fixing it? Thanks.

Registry crap problem when trying to install *SOME* programs

... From # 2... 2.Locate and click the following value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD There is no VirtualDeviceDrivers structure in Control!!! WTF!? Do I make it? -
Well what ever... I am not a power guru.

I am having a similar problem. Read my thread... http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15194

I did that too... Worked great... I would do it. The more RAM the better.
-
The 311... Musta been just that card then... But I have had probs with other Netgears other than the 311s. Oh well... I will be fine as I am.

1 machine on network cannot access mail!!! HELP PLEASE!
HELLBRINGER replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Networking
It's not very good so I don't use it. I know a few hacks my self to break a BlackICE firewall... I think I will just keep my current version of ZA and not get Pro. -
I installed Q3 from the CD. Worked fine. When I run Q3 and try to switch to any diff video mode, it attempts it, acts like it is almost there, then back to desktop with no quake 3 and GAMMA UP THE YING YANG! What the hell? I ran a copy of q3 I had on my HD with video at 1024X760 and loaded fine. Although I did not attempt changing video mode.

Um.... No... Cant... and... No I am not taking off Zone Alarm since I have been having so many people hacking my system lately. For what reason I dont know... And I can't hug my grandpa... If I did try I would be doing some digging. And I don't enjoy my e-mail... I "penetrate" my e-mail. That was not a sick crack... Or was it??? -
Very sure. I have had so many frustrations with Netgear I said screw it! Been buying D-Link since and never had a problem... Are these LinkSys switches good? I see a lot of them. Are the cheaper than D-Link or something?

Well I don't have a picture yet. But I will soon hopefully for you guys. I took this old funle type thing from a old Sony VAIO PCV-150 computer. That took the air from the powersupply right above the heatsink and narrowed and focused the air onto the heatsink for cooling. Then I took this big *** fan that came with my friends case, put it on top of this funnle thing with electrical tape. Then attached a regular sized fan to the bottom of it. I then proceded to attach the little fan to the heatsink like you would attach any ordinary fan to a heatsink. So now I have 2 fans on my CPU cooling it. And I must say it is cooling quite well. The bigger fan on top is forcing so much air down on to the little fan that the little fan has to go faster. (LOL) and is going 5400 RPM instead of its 4000 average. So that is my "improvised" fan adapter deal. And... Then I added a fan to my heatsink on my GF2 MX and added a old heatsink/fan unit from a P333 on the other side of the core. So the GF2 MX has a fan and heatsink on both sides of the core. Top and bottom. And the card is nice and cool now to the touch during intense Q3 games instead of piping hot... Then... I added a "system blower" fan to suck air out under the video card to remove heat hovering over the capacitors and RAM. That is working quite well. Putting the cover on and putting your hand behind the case near the blower you can feel a rush of warm air coming out. Then... LOL... I took a fan from a Intel Coppermine heatsink and an old from from a P200 and put them on the sides of my hard drive blowing air over and through the heatsink fins on my HD. My HD has two heatsinks on the top. The hard drive is now... cool to the touch instead of the usual burning hot without the heatsinks and fans. And... I have a heatsink and fan on my northbridge (which came with the mobo). I added a heatsink to the south bridge. And put two heatsinks on my sound card (top and bottom) over the core (both sides). And a heatsink on my network card. That is 7 fans total. And 8 heatsinks. Get this... I am not done.

lol but what about condensation?
-
Why would anyone wanna do that? Wouldn't it eventually corode? And how is heat removed? It would be trapped right where it came from. And everything would be all gooey and stuff... That is a very determined idea but I don't think I would want to do that.

Sometimes if you are using an optical mouse or any special mouse. Win ME will not let that device take the system out of sleep mode. Try pressing and holding down some keys on the keyboard. Sometimes that will work. Then go to your mouse properties, and check where it says something like "all this device to take my computer out of standby mode" G/L

And what is this master browser thing you are talking about. I still don't understand what you are talkng about. Those two programs do not show up on the server's firewall list because outlook is not actually being ran on the server. It is being ran on a clients machine. -
Yeah me too but they are too loud. . I am probably going to take them out. I want to do water cooling, something much better, and quieter.

Ahhh crap! This is really pissing me off! Me and my friend both have Epox EP-8KTA3 motherboards. We both have Western Digital ATA100 7200RPM 40GB hard drives as well. I have a Duron 800 @ 1000 and he has a Duron 850 not over clocked cause I need to fix the pencil marks (lol! sorry couldn’t resist). Seems that no matter what VIA 4in1 drivers we tried. No matter how much **** we did (to a certain extent). We could not get our drives to actually run/feel at/like ATA100 mode. WTF?! I have heard of this issue before. But only until now has it become a nuisance. I am also wondering if Creative Labs CRAPTACULAR SoundBlaster Live! drivers don't have anything to do with this. If anyone has ANY information on this, drivers, or can help in any way PLEASE DO. I am killing my self here. It would be much appreciated. Thanks! Mike HELLBRINGER Gregory
