What? That first sentense made no sense! Well I dont know what the deal is here. It has never done this before.

Ok cool well I was just wondering. If it is a decent price I will probably do it. Thanks

I recently switched to NTFS file system. I still have a few programs that don't work in Win2k. Should I get Windows Millenium and use multi-boot since Win98SE wont work with NTFS? Will Win ME work with NTFS? Or do I have to change everything back to FAT32? Thanks

Multi-Boot Win2k and WinME. WinME support NTFS?

N/M I got PM6 and got it back to FAT32. -
It's blue.

Here is a pic of SiSoft Sandra. This is what it shows. Both versions.

Lemme check all that and I will get back to you. Only device on IDE. Just the HD by it self. I remember installing SP2. I know I have DMA enabled in advanced on pri IDE I dont know. What is the diff between 40 and 80? I used the ribbon cable that was thin and fancier that came with the HD. Is that it? It feels slow and I have checked it with SiSoft Sandra 2001 SE and 2001 Standard. Both report about 40MB transfer rates instead of the 100 that I should have.

Anyone know a good partition program that works with Win2k N
HELLBRINGER replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Software
Well... I want to go back to FAT32 cause I need Win98 to work. So... Now how the hell do I go back? And the reason I wanted to partition it is I want more drives with less space. So no matter what I am going to partition it. So how do I go back to FAT32? Hehe, sorry guys. -
Well I was talking about Netgear. I like some of the Intel NICs, I dont care much for their switches and hubs and routers and stuff. 3COM is really good but they are not as good as they use too and their stuff is over rated. Their drivers are pretty good though. Money is an issue with me. So I went with D-Link. I have NEVER had a problem with them. I have used Netgear switches, hubs, and NICs and have always had some sort of problem with them. One time I couldnt even get the damn card to work no matter how I installed the drivers. Musta been a faulty card. But I don't trust Netgear. The only good thing their stuff is good for is it look cool and has a pretty blue. Awesome looking paper weight anyone?

I said the system is not on. How does the light go on just cause the cable is in? That doesnt make sense to me cause from what I know only the LED will be on (on the switch, not the NIC itself) if the WOL cable plugged into the motherboard. Is there some other feature I don't know about?
-
Damn... But some of it could be done.

It's not memory or overheating problems is it? That would cause some wierd stuff like that. Have you tried doing a "Last known good configuration"? Any hardware in device manager screwed? Does your computer slow down when this happens? Describe the problem in a bit more detail. Thats all I can think of at the moment.
-
Well I am keeping to D-Link right now. Very reliable for me. I have their switches and NICs and everything works great.

Yes i know the ports would remain 100MBPS. But with 2 NICs, and 2 cables from 1 computer using 2 ports on a switch. Or.... 2 NICs and 2 cables in 1 PC and 1 cable going to one switch and the other to the other switch and the two switches connnected together combining their speed. Kind of like full duplex but full duplex seems wierd and doesnt feel like 200MBPS, actually it seems slower sometimes. How does that work anyway?
-
Yeah but it runs fine when it starts up. Pretty fast actually. Then after a while, or if something funny happens it slows down so freekin much you dont want to wait and restart the thing. I don't think it's hardware, I think its a memory leak or some software. Cause I have ran Win2k Pro off of a P133 and it works fine! No slow downs more than it already is. Sure its not no Athlon 1GHz but it works and doesnt slow down to a hault like this is doing. Which I have a premonition that it is software.

Multi-Boot Win2k and WinME. WinME support NTFS?
HELLBRINGER replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Hardware
Well is this damn WinXP out yet anyway? Are Win98 apps compatible with it? Cause if it is built off of the NT kernel then wouldn't Win9x apps that dont work on NT not work with WInXP? I think it would be eaiser just to go back to FAT32 and use Win98 SE, and Win2k Pro. Bahhh that sucks ***! Stupid Microsuck! Err Microsoft. -

Ahhh yes that seems to make sense... But I will just get PM6 or just go back to FAT32. -
Using Nero and HP CD Writing software to try and copy CDs on my friends system. An I/O Magic 52X CD-ROM and an HP 8X CD Drive. Nero is informing me that difficulties may arrise in attempting to copy a CD and write it at the same time on the fly with the drivers on the same IDE port. And those problems did arise. Would putting a CD-ROM on Primary IDE and the CD Writer on Secondary IDE ports fix this? I don't want to attempt it unless I know his system is a mess to get into and it is not even here and I don't want him to bring it over for me to try if it is not going to work. Thanks!

Ok I'll do that. Kinda sucks though. Oh well.

How about WinXP? Anything other than NT? -
Hmmm must be bad luck. How about their cards?
-
Yeah I kinda saw a lot of this with modems. The reason for 2 switches I guess is more throughput. But I would need 4 switches then... Cause I got 5 computers on the network and a 5 port switch. Hmmm... Interesting. I think I will give the 2 NICs a try... Or... I got 2 extra 10MBPS cards... Hmmmm. ;-) Thanks guys.

Perhaps someone has a remote admin program on yer comp. I noticed that if I am controling, or even VIEWING a users session over a remote admin program their CPU usage will go to 100% almost all the time no matter what they are doing it can be just sitting there. Other than that maybe a anti-virus program or something is scanning something. Or maybe you should stop schedueling Quake III to load 4 times and minimize every 20 minutes. LOL J/K

Problems logging on a Windows 2000 server domain from a Wind
HELLBRINGER replied to shassouneh's topic in Networking
Man after reading some stuff. I still have little idea of what the hell AD is and what it does. Can anyone explain it in easy to understand terms? I mean... I am very computer literate and all, but this is some heavy **** for someone just getting into the server world.
