Domain Controller... Not receiving data over LAN!!! HELP PLE
HELLBRINGER replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Networking
It was working. I dont remember exactly what I did but it was nothing to the server. I may have been trying to access it. I don't understand! I have checked ALL LAYER 1 Devices! LAYER 2! LAYER 3!... I have checked nearly everything I think. Do you have any idea why this is happening? And I don't think anything on the network not on the server could actually affect it to do that. It cant be hardware cause I practically have revamped the whole system. Everything is new except the monitor, mouse and keyboard! LOL... I even tried different Cat5 cable, and a different switch! So it is nothing in the first 3 layers. -

Domain Controller... Not receiving data over LAN!!! HELP PLE
HELLBRINGER replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Networking
I think so. They are all using 255.255.0.0 I have a firewall installed on the Web server. That is a diff server. I have 2 servers. The webserver hosts my website megabytemike.com which should work now. It is directly connected to the Internet. It also has ISA Server on it. But that has nothing to do with the problem. The domain controller server was working earlier. I'm not sure what happened. But it is not receving any data now. Only sending... -
Domain Controller... Not receiving data over LAN!!! HELP PLE
HELLBRINGER replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Networking
Yes and Yes. The web server is separate from the Domain Controller so I can still access the web. I can access all computers on the network except the PDC. Yet it shows up I just cant go into it. But it is showing up. The Domain Controller features are not working. Like I cannot login. No one ping the domain server. The server cannot ping anyone else either. -
Domain Controller... Not receiving data over LAN!!! HELP PLE

Both... Before it was my 200MHz system with 80MB RAM. I thought it was the motherboard because I tried many different NICs and had the same problem. Now I have my Duron 750 with an ECS mainboard for this server. I re-formated, and re-installed Windows 2000 Server. And now it is STILL doing the same thing. So it must be a configuration issue. Since it is using the built-in network card, before I was using internal PCI ones. I tried a D-Link 100MBPS and a D-Link 10MBPS and a CompUSA 100MBPS. Now its using an internal built-in SiS 900 100MBPS NIC from the motherboard. Still having the problem. What is the problem here? -
When I access the remote server from any workstation it may take several minutes to do one operation such as directory list, rename file, open file... But does not do this all the time. Does anyone have any clue what the problem is or can help me narrow down the problem?

Takes about 2 minutes to do one thing on remote comp

I have upgraded the server. But I don't seem to be having the problem any more. I have re-formatted as well. This problem, as of now... is resolved. -

Not likely any of those. I think it is an issue with PDC. Ever since I made a server a PDC I have had small network issues like these. Is it maybe that the PDC server is a slow computer? But it worked fine without PDC. My PDC is only a PDC and serves files on its HD. That is all. The system is a 200MHz with 80MB EDO RAM. Is this insufficent? -
I think my PDC (Primary Domain Controller) computer is resetting all my clocks. It is an hour off. And I will go change it back (this is on workstations) and it flips back a min later or so... WTF!? So I got to my PDC server and the time is an hour off... I think it controls the time for the entire network, but when I change it it changes back too! How do I fix this!? I still want it to synchronize all the clocks on network but I WANT IT TO BE RIGHT DAMN IT! LOL... Thanks in advance.

It is set for the proper time zone, and I keep resetting it to the propper time yet it keeps moving back! What is wrong with this thing? -
I have gone through all the stuff in this book here and I can't find out why my FTP server wont work! HELP PLEASE! I get this error when trying to access it over the browser: HTTP 502 Proxy Error - The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) session was terminated. The connection was closed because of either a possible attempted security violation or a time out on the remote server. Reconnect to the server or check for server availability. No further action is required. (12111) Internet Security and Acceleration Server And when using an FTP client I get this... Finding Host ftp.megabytemike.com ... Connecting to 63.227.241.1:21 Connected to 63.227.241.1:21 in 0.440, Waiting for Server Response Connection closed by remote host.

I'm using ServU FTP Server, and it is running and from what I can see should be working. Why cant anyone connnect including me? I just get a connection, then it fails. I dont understand I have gone though everything I can think of. -
How can I control users and shares and such from my PDC over

I have a Primary Domain Controller computer and I'd like to administrate it from my computer. How do I set this up? I want to be able to alter shares, security settings, and user settings with the Active Directory control. My computer is using Windows 2000 Professional and I am on the same LAN segment and domain. Thanks -

HELLBRINGER posted a topic in Networking
My website appears to be working fine on port 80 even though all my scanners, and GRC.com's "shields up" says the port is in stealth... Is this true? Is it working for you? www.megabytemike.com Thanks. -
ISA Server - Demand Dial... When I logout it drops connectio
HELLBRINGER posted a topic in Networking
My ISA server uses my DSL modem to dialup to the internet. It dials in just fine when the server is on and i don't even have to login. I can login and it stays connected as well no problem. But when I logoff it disconects and has to connect again. Is there a way I can make it so it doesn't disconnect but still be able to logoff? -

I have 2 servers, one is a PDC and the other is a webserver with ISA... I think I have routing figured out quite well... but am considering getting a layer 3 device (a router). Should I? Cons, Pros?
