Alecstaar - I take it the pic in 1 of the links in your sig is you ???? (top link im refering to here ) -
Ive had that on 3 different Maxtor drives, 2 6.4GB and 1 8GB. More and more bad clusters just kept appearing so they got RMAd. The 4th replacement is still working though atm, after about 2 years, but no maxtor drive is going near my pc again

And im sure you can really tell the difference in games with that monster 15mhz core increase. This is what convinces me, why would i void my warranty just to get a pathetic 20mhz overclock at most, for 0 real world gain. I get 12000 3dmarks and im sure you can manage that, but who cares And 1 degree difference does not make a 'huge' difference on CPUs.] Oh and cooler=longer living ?, ill have changed the card by the time it dies anyway, ive still got TNT2s/Geforce 2 GTSs that still work perfectly with the retail coolers. We are talking years here!

Sorry but the gf4 core seems to be limited just by its design. (0.15 @300mhz!) Cooling it 5 degrees is going to make 0 difference to its OC ability, or maybe 1mhz. Well that was well worth the cost of the HS eh

Check out www.viahardware.com and download JUST the IDE driver from the downloads page. Try an install of that and see if it enables DMA on the drive.
-
Check that your CD/DVD drives are using DMA mode, and not PIO mode. Just check device manager, and under IDE/ATA controllers, double click on secondary IDE channel, and then the advanced tab in there can tell you

I can see youve not actually used an ATi card recently. The drivers are now good. 1 more time....the DRIVERS ARE GOOD! Im sure that back in the early rage days they were terrible, and i think that the way the MAXX users were treated with regards to NT support was pretty terrible. But the radeon 7500/8500 drivers are great, and ive had absolutly 0 problems with them. We need to get rid of this stupid idea that radeon drivers are crap, cos they are not. When youve used a 7500/8500, come back and tell me they are terrible, then ill beleve you.

Its settled, the best games ever are Freespace 1 and 2

That will damage the monitor doing that There is a reason why its only rated at 85, so if you push it further your just gonna hurt it

I dont get it, how can an IDE 10,000rpm drive suffer from 'heat issues' but a 15,000! rpm SCSI drive can be made with no prob, they both spin dont they !??!?!

As far as im aware, this should only work on mobos with an intel chipset, otherwise just use the via ide drivers.
