8) no refund! ....but its broken !?!? ;(

Ive tried Linux on many occasions and have yet to find anything that i can do with it, that i cant do in windows. But, ive found plenty of things i can do in linux that i can also do in windows, except it seems to take twice as long, heh Maybe its just me, but it seems pointless for the VAST majority of home users to use it. As far as office goes, who cares, as someone already said, use a previous version. Ive got office 2000, and i cant think of any reason to upgrade to even office XP (does it have a new paperclip or something?)
-
Probably is

Can you try a dif cpu in the Gigabyte board? Does the BIOS of the board support XP2200s?
-
Ive got that thing sapiens posted on my p4 8) Its a good cooler, only complaint being that it takes ages to fit and you have to take the mobo out of the case to do it.
-
Dosfreak, why is HDTach not good for benchmarking hard drives? PCMark and sandra, yeah terrible for benching hdds, but as far as i can see HDTach is great.
-
Seems like he cant get the thing to boot, let alone get into windows You got any other boards you can try the CPU in?

Konqueror sucks Use Mozilla

It is a very nice drive I got it to replace 1 of my IBM 60GXPs that died horribly. Another 1 is still running in my dads pc though (hopefully)
-
I think this is the bit where i have to complain But i cant, its great, totally amazing new look. Nice one
-
Yup im running 1 I only really have 1 problem with it, and thats that it cant do FSAA in 16bit, which kinda pissed me off a little bit. Apart from that though ive got no complaints. I run all games in 1280x1024 with 4x FSAA and 8X AF (with the excepetion of UT2003, which i dont play anyway) and they all run amazingly well. Only probs ive really seen are with agp 8x but the newer revision cures that so if you buy one now you should be ok Overall great card, i moved up from a ti4400 and its soooo much better

I have a feeling its gonna need a GF1 plus, even in final, just because of the requirements of the engine.
-
Yup im running a WD SE 8mb cache. Totally excellent drive, very fast and very quiet. I wouldnt touch maxtor either
-
Yeah i think you should go out on the street right now and just hug some random person
-
I think winrars is you buy it for $29.99 or whatever, and then you just get that version, and you have to pay for upgrades. (I might be wrong on this). But as i said its not as annoying as winzip is, as far as bugging you to register I really should probably register it but cant atm
-
Prefer winrar anyway Would just rather buy that, but its not really very annoying so i havent got round to it yet

problems with hardware (HDD?) when trying to install winxp
JP- replied to Gregor's topic in Hardware
AUTO would have most likely selected 66/100/133 anyway Isnt there any options to disable DMA? It might say something about PIO mode, which is what you need. -

Are the drive detected by the bios/boot screen? If not then the drive isnt connected correctly or the jumper settings are wrong. Try the drive on its own, with the jumper set to 'master' with it being the only thing on the cable, and see if the bios can find it then. If it is found, and you still have the problem, go into the bios and disable UDMA for both primary/seconary channels. That should be in the bios under 'integrated perpherals' i beleve. Ive had a few drive/board combos that didnt like DMA being enabled on windows install. (You can always re-enable it later after the pc is setup). -
Win2k seems to hate having a mobo swapped out with a different chipset. You could probably fix it by doing a repair install from the 2k CD, that way all your files would still be intact.
-
It does infact....mule. The thing i like about it most though is that when you do a drag/drop type file extraction, it gives you a little progress bar, rather than opening the whole program up on screen. Also winzip gives those stupid license boxes that you have to accept if its not registered before it starts the extract.

Crucial make the same radeon as most other ppl They just badly advertised it and made it sound like it had 350mhz mem (which it doesnt)
-
I dont think MS will be too bothered with me posting a game included with win95

Here is the vid and here is hover for anyone who wants to give it a go. it runs great with 6xFSAA and 16x AF, honest. I managed to cut the file size in half for the video but youll need divx to view it. enjoy (yes both of you).

Na its not that 1, authough that is also on the CD. The buddy holly 1 is where the video is from happy days, youll know it when you see it Just at the time i was blown away by how great it was to have video playing on my PC Im sure i could upload it if anyone wants it
