im not touching an amd chip until they get there chipsets sorted out, shame really cos they really are the better chip.

2000, ive tried XP on many occasions and always come back to 2000. More stable, 'feels' faster, and is just all round better. Hard to explain.

I cant understand your problem with the euro, we should most definatly take it. Yes they do look like monopoly money but that matters....why exactly? We really shouldnt get into an argument over this cos it will just go on and on and on but this is just my personal opinion.

I seem to remember this game being a total pain even under win9x. Didnt it need full real DOS to work, i think i had to use a boot disc or something at the time.
-
BTW, anyone happen to know if its opengl or direct3d? I really hope its GL.

Best thing about that vid was when he shot the dude on top of the tower and he falls down and hits stuff on the way. Game looks fantastic, doom 3 will have to be something special to beat this by the look of it. go unreal! yeah!

Id have to come to the defence of dabs.com i think they are the best UK online retailer of computer hardware without a doubt. Unless you want overclocking type stuff that is. I must have ordered a huge amount of stuff from them over the years and had 1 problem (Crucial ram broke and it took 4 weeks for a replacement). Ive had alot of problems with other online retailers, most notably www.overclockers.co.uk Also i have to say that no one could be more suprised than me at jungle.com, they were excellent every time i used them, i really expected them to be poo but i was very suprised.

Thanks looks pretty funky. Would look good on my fans like in the review on the last page, would certainly brighten it up a little bit.

You got a link for this stuff? ive never seen it.

Good little program that is, it should resize it no prob.

The "rig" in my sig is my main gaming machine, runs quake III arena at 0.2fps + so i cant complain, and get this....the cpu even needs a cooling fan 8) Clutch i dunno what you mean 'high-end' hardware, if an s3+voodoo combo isnt considered high end i dunno what is
-
OK heres my new "rig" (man i hate that word, makes it sound like a truck or something). AMD k6-2-300mhz, 128mb, 40gb hdd, savage4. I think youll agree that its a pretty damn powerful machine, and scores a blistering 200 3dmarks. Beat that!

As far as i know, under NT/2000/XP you need a paging file no matter how much RAM you have. Course i could be totally wrong
-
Ah i couldnt care less how many IDE connectors it has, as long as its got at least 2. I still need a floppy so its welcome, but im pleased to see they have got rid of all the other legacy stuff. I know some people still use them but i have no use for such things and im sure other people are in the same position, so well done abit for actually going ahead and doing it. As far as raid goes, a while back i thought, wow raid yeah ill have that. Most pointless thing i have ever used, unless you spend most of you life benchmarking your drives there is no difference Anyway....
-
wow they must have been really annoyed when they realised someone else had sneaked in and grabbed it

Ive not tried Infiltration yet no. I used to play UT alot single player against the bots or on the LAN but never on the net which is why i have never tried mods for it. The main reason for this was that i had a modem at the time and it wasnt fun with 300 ping, not tried it since getting adsl, but ill give it a go later today and download infiltration.

Hi, just a quick question (hopefully) i seem to remember seeing something about this before, but is there a way to shutdown a computer remotly. The computer is just on my LAN running win2000, is there a way to do it in ME also?
-
Yes pretty screen shots No need to try and sell me the unreal engine, its very nice.
-
Woah! thats not what i meant at all, i meant that about the current renegade engine.

Looks pretty bad if you ask me. (Yes i know you didnt). Cant beleve what George has done with star wars, the first 3 were excellent but these ones have "For ages 7 and under" plastered all over em. Hes just gone for all out special effects and a cheesy story. Ive not bothered looking at that trailer but i saw 1 in the cinema (theatre) the other day and it it looked a bit poo, it was like they made the trailer and thought "hmm this is a bit boring" and just stuck a few space ship sequences on the end of it. Infact i even saw return of the jedi the other day, the SE version and he has even messed that up by inserting a cheesy dance sequence in the pizza the hut bit.

I dont think it does, the outdoors are amazingly angular and the indoors are just plain and dull. It just feels like a really bad arcade game, you just aim the cursor at what you want to die and thats it, no skill involved.
-
K, thanks guys, ive just got back from a trip so ill try all this later and see what works out best.

Clutch, shutdown.exe any idea what the parameters are for it to get it to shutdown another PC? I would check it myself but ill probably end up shutting my pc down and its doing something important atm
-
That would be useful, does it require anything loaded on the client machines?
