I cant express my love of dells in words they look great and have lovely screens. my only complain would be the touchpads, i always hit them when typing, maybe its a prob on compaqs as well ?

I never thought i would say such a thing but i would get a via board over an ali 1 8) They scared me for life with there socket 7 boards

But dells look nice, authough we have had a few HDD fails, not nearly as many as on our old IBM stinkpads though

Yup, mine also have been working for over a year without problem, which is more than i can say for 2 maxtor drives.

Stop scaring me, im running two of these 60GXPs and im frightened they are gonna blow every time i use em. Still, i read that its heat that eventually kills em and mine are well cooled.

Try removing your display drivers and reinstalling them, i know it does that black screen thing when its changing the clock speed on the card, it might just be trying to do that, even if its just setting them to default speed again.

Were you overclocking at all using powerstrip?

Do you not have the boot disk creation program that comes with it? Usually you make a disc then boot from it and go threw it from there. It cant write to NTFS so you will need to use your E: drive for the image file that it creates.

Its because of the change of motherboard Its probably using different ide controllers so it wont be able to properly access the hdd. Best thing to do would be to do a full format and reinstall the OS from scratch.

SBlive probs on intel? you have any links for that? its given me 0 probs on the intel board, gave 0 probs on the via board to be honest with you but ive heard they caused probs.

Totally agree, i have also supported systems for basically stupid users these ppl barely even know how to work MS Word, can you imaging telling them to change there agp driving control or there vcore over the phone? they wont have a clue

Wow i cant tell if your being serious or if your joking -
Try.. Right click on my computer, choose manage. On the left side choose disk management, if its listed in there right click on it, choose 'change drive letter and path' then just select it and click remove. See if that gets rid of it.
