5, my pc as in sig. Athlon 1.4,512mb,geforce2gts Duron 850,128mb,geforce2mx K6-2 500,128mb,matrox G400 and a dell latitude c600 laptop All have pretty similar hdds etc, 5400 rpm ones but they do the job.

Yeah i think i messed my XP install up a bit That was with my athlon, seems to work with the p4. But i suppose a reinstall of the OS would of fixed it which ever one i was using.

Actually i really enjoyed this game. Authough some ppl seem to really hate it It does have a few annoying bugs though like at the end a certain event didnt trigger for me and so the ending didnt work as it was supposed to (Had to start again) Overall Good Game Crashed for me in XP btw, authough it works flawlessly under 2k

Your build number is fine (same as mine with SP2). Why do you want to kill IE anyway, its pretty much integrated into win2k so i dont think its a very good idea to try and remove it 8) (SR2 = Service Release 2)?!?!?!?!?!

Run the XP install from the cd and choose the repair install, it should then set XP as the primary boot OS and create a boot.ini for you so you can select ME/XP.

I had a delta 60mm on my SK6 with an athlon 1.4@1.575 and the temps reched about 43degrees C under full load, but i do have quiet a lot of case fans which helped alot. I also tried an 80mm delta on it but it wasnt as good as the 60mm. For quietness there are a few fans you can try, i like the YStech ones as the push a decent amount of air and are nothing like a delta noise wise (thank god). Here are the stats for the fans Delta 60mm Output - 37.6CFM Decibels - 46.5dBA YSTech 60mm Output - 26CFM Decibels - 36dBA Obviously temps would be higher but it shouldnt be that much if you get an exaust fan to go with it I would say probably about 50degrees C with that fan. Damn those 1.4s just put out too much heat! Hope this helps you a bit.

Just curious...why are you using star office? I use it myself under linux but under Windows Office is much better surely?

OK i had a quick go as well. I installed the 4.33 drivers and noticed a few things. If you install the agp driver on its own and replace the standard XP one it seems to make things a bit speedier. But the IDE drivers totally screwed everything up, it made XP take about 2 mins to boot rather than a few seconds, and it made drive access very slow. Infact it wouldnt even show there were any drives connected in device manager Anyway, im happy with just the agp driver.

What renderer are you using, Direct3D, OpenGL or whatever? If your using direct3d try opengl and vice versa, and if your using software mode then just try either of the other 2

OK this is a huge long shot but are you using a usb keyboard?

Actually i prefer winDVD, it just seems alot more polished to me. Its really down to personal preference but the 2 Rien suggested are the easily the best.

Hi I have the same joystick, and you dont need the sidewinder software to get it working. Just go into control panel->game devices and then add 'sidewinder (auto detect)' and it should detect it and then it works. Hope this helps.

ISA network card if its for gaming you wont notice a speed difference

DDR on video cards just happens to be probably the most worthwile use for it brian, the memory was the bottleneck on those cards (and i suppose still is) so anything that increases the memory bandwidth has to be good. With cpus its totally different, the athlon wasnt really designed with ddr specifically in mind so it doesnt give you a huge performance increase. On the other hand the p4 seems to need a big memory bandwidth to do anything worthwhile, thats why the 845 sucks so much And of course if your buying a new board you wouldnt really want an sdr 1 would you I think preacher got it spot on there not much of a difference but its worth it over the sdr boards. And remember memory benchies arnt everything, you can see what the p4 gets in the sandra tests but the athlon can whooop it at a much lower clock speed in real life games, and with a much lower memory score.

Just go into the screen where u set its size, and choose 'no paging file' for drive c, and then select drive d and set one for that drive. Depends on your drive letters obviously.

Yeah i had a friend whos cpu fan stopped on a p3 (slot) and it just kept crashing all the time, i was amazed that it worked at all after about 4 months being run like this 8) Slapped a new HS/Fan on it and it worked as good as new, i suppose intel have the 1 up on amd in this department
