When this last batch of Viruses hit the net, I read that microsoft shut it's Windows Update site down. Is it still down? I've loaded run the latest files from the Microsoft.com website, but if I try going to Windows Update, I get the old "that site don't exist" message. (paraphrasing). Everything else works great. Any Ideas? thanks Yes, my copy is legal.

I've got the picture from the 7200 pretty good now. Having a problem getting Dolby Digital from the Hercules Fortissimo III . But, that's another problem I can work through. I widh I could have got the video from the DXR3 card. Geez it was beautiful. I'm gettin it figured out a little at a time, but you guys have helped a lot. My biggest problwm is getting the time to play with it. I have to run the family into another room. That doesn't bode well.....have a god day!!!

I run XP professional. I use an NEC MultiSync LCD1700m+ monitor. The native resolution of the monitor is 1280X1024. I have my desktop set to that and there is no problem. But, When booting, everything on the screen looks like it's running about 640X480 and covers a tiny spot on the screen. It use to cover the full screen. Also the monitor pops up a window that says "NON PRESET MODE". I've read a bit on the NEC web site. It addresses "what the problem is", but not how to resolve it. . Any of you guys have a clue? Oh yea, I'm running a ATI Radeon 7200 graphics card.... THanks

Thanks for the ideas guys. I currently have video from the dxr3 card and audio from the Hercules card. I've yet to get Dolby Digital though. The reason for my insistance of video from the DXR3 card is that video from my ATI Radion 7200 card is pretty bad. I have faith I'll get it to work, or I'll get another card.

I have a Creative DVD Rom, the EncoreDxr3 that goes with it and an SBlive value sound card. I have been playing movies on my projection TV. The picture and sound quality has been wonderful. I've read out on the net that the Hercules Fortissimo could play the DVD's in Dolby Digital. So, I bought one. It came with an array of software. What little information came with it explained that PowerDVD is to be used to play DVDs. My problem is I can't get the video to the TV. WIth PowerDVD, I can get the 5.1 soundtrack to the Stereo, but not the video, If I use the PC-DVD Player that came with the Creative DVD ROM, I can get the video to the TV, but not the sound. If anybody has any ideas on this , please let me know Thanks in advance!!! Ruben

The only thing under logon AUTOLOGON and there is a place for USERNAME and PASSWORD. I expanded LOGON and it's not there. I know that sounds crazy, but it's not there. I've looked really well. I downloaded it from the link you put here. It's version 2.00.1.0...I also uninstalled the earlier version. rebooted and reinstalled... I keep editing this post :x .. I went through every Title and sub title...It's not there.... ;( -
Password and Shutdown Window has changed

Well dang Ezron, I have tweakui, but none of the selections has the item you named in the note.. I'm continuing to look though. If I'm not mistaken, I do think it changed when I loaded the .net update. -
I'm using XP Pro. When I initially installed it, I set it to log into Windows without a password screen. A couple of weeks ago when I had to reboot, it started up ans displayed a password screen that more resembles Windows NT. I just hit OK without a password and it botts up as usual. Also, when I click Start and then Shutdown...the resulting dialog box also looks like an NT box. Does anyone know how to reset it back to what looked more like XP screens ?

Thanks for answering EddiE314. Can you remember what regestry item you changed? Your description of your problem is exactly what I'm getting. Alien, I'll take a look this evening. Thanks What got this started was I am trying to install the lates ATI drivers and updated versions of their programs. For once, I followed their instructions. Bad move. I created restore point. I uninstalled the programs and driver. Step by Step. Everything was fine until I started loading things back up . Everything went to Heck. I then did a restore. I noticed on reboot that everything before the welcome screen was a different resolution. :x I even restored from 1 week previous. Same result. I finally got my previous version of everything reloaded. This is the second time RESTORE didn't work very well. That'll be the LAST time I EVER follow instructions.

I've got an ABIT KT7A RAID running a ATI 7200 DDR64 VIVO. Windows XP Pro SP1. I created a restore point. I'm trying to load updated drivers for the video board, During one of the failed attempts, I noticed that the post and boot screens were now in a different resolution, It continues that way until it gets to the WELCOME screen. At that point the video goes full screen. After trying to load the newer drivers with no success, i restored it. BUT, the weird resolution is still there during a boot. This problem is more courisity than anything. If any of you guys have had a similar problem. Lemme know, thanks

I know you can add or remove start up items by selecting or deselecting items in MSConfig. My question is. How can you remove the item completely from the MSConfig window? I have removed applications, bu they keep showing up in the MSConfig window.
