GRRR!!! I have been having a really, really, REALLY, bad time with this game! Whenever I try to play the Conquer the World Campaign it acts like it will be fine it loads bt as soo as i try to take ove a county the game quits and says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: ...rogram Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of Nations\nations.exe abnormal program termination" Frist off, what the heck does that mean, second do any of you know how I can fix it? I been trying all day! And third but not least, what does the degauss button do/mean and why does it look so cool when i push it? Well if you can answer any/all of these questions I would be very very apreciative. Anywho its 11:00 o'clock and i have finals next week so i gotta go! Regards, Pkiff

When ever i try to run warcraft 3, It say it cannot initialize Directx but i have directx installed v8.1b. I ran dxdiag and discovered that directdraw acceleration and direct3D acceleration were not availble. why is this? can i fix this?

Hey guys! Once again, I need help. I need to find out how to fix my cd-rom drive. I am receiving the error "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)" If anyone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh and bye the way JP, "yet to find a game not running on win2k/kp" huh? Well, I suggest you try The Neverhood. I would pay if you could get it to work on win2k! Lord knows I can't...

Ok, I did it all, (I'm running on win2k) and now im getting "a privileged instruction was executed at address 004dd5b4" and then the app terminates. Any bright ideas?

How come no one else has this game? I love his game, but I can't get it to work under win2k. If anyone has any information or another site I could go to, to try and fix this problem I would much appreciate it. Thanks Pkiff

It is true that I am using the bare minimum for two of the requirements, but even the bare minimums should still allow the game to run! Anyways, Microsoft Support, in all its great wisdom, pinned the problem on the missing 1 megahert. I can't believe it. Well, I guess its all up to you guys to try and fix the problem. I really shouldn't be that surprised though, this isn't the first time this has happened. (and the last time you guys pulled through ) Well I tried turning all the settings to low and that didn't help. But, thanks anyways. I will try and dink around and see what helps. Ill keep you posted. Pkiff

The patch didn't work. Thanks anyways though. I have already upgraded all my drivers with the exception of BIOS and motherboard. After trying these things I will post back.

In addition to the specs listed above i also have a 32 meg Nvidia TNT2 video card. Ihad always wondered what the magical degauss button did. I knew it had to do with magnents but i wasn't sure what. Thanks a bunch! pkiff

I can't get my network connection to work for my 2 win 2k machines. I have a direct connection between the two machines, both have the win2k operating system and the connnection worked previously before i got a new computer. If you need more info drop a post. It is a crossover cable. However, I dont know the IP addresses of the computers. I also have a DSL connection thaat i would like to get working. Thanks guys, Pkiff

I had that same problem with my last machine. Does it run slow on start up? If so, does it ever crash on start up? pkiff

I have a Windows 2000 machine and sometimes at startup SERVICES.EXE takes up 100% of my CPU. Sometimes this happens for a few seconds but sometimes it stays until the next time I restart. Sys. specs. on request.

Some comps at my school had XP and i cant stand them. I also swear by win2k and have installed it on all my machines. BTW an easy, and I mean EASY fix to red alert is http://ntvdm.cjb.net/ this ms-dos based emulator along with the patch. works (sound and all) great for me under win2k.

Easy fix for the sound issue. download this dos sound emulator and run setup with it. http://ntvdm.cjb.net/ you also have to run the game with it but it is very easy! I love some people! (like the guy who invented this) Makes all the old dos based games work like magic.

I just bought Renegade for my Win2k Prof. machine and it works fine. How many different ways hae you tried to install it? Have you looked onto the disk and tried different things in there? (I.E. runnning the "setup.exe" off the disk instead of the auto-play) I had a problem similar to this on my brothers win 98 comp, but his computer sucks! Regards Kris

Hey guys i really need help with this one. okay so I decided to save my girlfriends mom a couple of bucks by clearing all her memory and reloading (it is old so bear with me) win 95. Everything went well until the next day when I found out her soundcard wasn't working. I can't figure out why her computer wont recognize the sound card. It worked before i messed with it. I tried searching for hardware and even using the cd she claims is for the sound card. any help? quickly.... Regards Kris
