i have my system dual booted with me and xp every thing was fine until this week i have the systems networked to my other computers. in ME i have no problem but in xp every time i shut down and reboot. the other computers on the network doesnt see my 2nd computer the computer is using my main system as its connection to the internet if i run the network connection wizard it fixes the problem. until i reboot then i have to run the wizard again this only happens in the xp mode in ME the network runs ok all the time my other computers are networked and i have no problems with them only my second system while in xp mode

when i try to shut down xp the screen its safe to shut down now doesnt come up the screen goes black

where can i find windows installer 2.0 for xp i am trying to install a program in xp on a computer with no internet access and it needs an up dated version of windows installer and i cant access the xp updatesite ;(

when i click on the start button the run command is missing any ideas im running xp pro on a toshiba 8000 laptop any suggestions or ideas as to why and how to restore it thanks guys fjack

no special drivers needed for kenwood 72x ive been running one since xp beta and now with xp pro

nero has a new incd available on www.nero.com that works with xp using it myself so i know it works

my cd rom drives disappeared when i go into device manager both drives are yellow flagged kenwood and plextor ide drives and the system wants cd rom drivers when i try to update the driver using the hardware wizard i get a message wizard cant install driver sice it doesnt recognize the cd roms i cant load drivers from cd`s any help appreciated running xp pro corporate abit mb pentium 500

after i attempt to shut down it is safe to shut down screen appears and the system sits and i have to turn it off manually any fix for this thanks guys

in xp there are many undocumented utilities do a search for files with the extension msc when they are found click on them and they will execute different utility programs

i can`t get drivers to load for high point dma66 controller on an abit be6 mother board i downloaded windows 2000 drivers from abit i then installed the drivers to a floppy rebooted the system hit f6 when prompted to install the drivers i still get the same stop error message has anyone been able to get this mother board to work with windows xp release candidate 1

i think you meant your remarks to russelwild i made no comments on any body else`s post i only asked for help on my problem and and explained it the best i could. when i found a solution i posted it. look over the threads and see who made the comments about puncuation

to solve the stop error i installed a promise ide ata66 pci controller card. i attached a hard drive to it and removed all hd`s connected to the high point controller on the mother board i installed winxp after it was up and running i went into device mgr and the mass storage controller was yellow flagged i uninstalled it then used the hardware wizard to detect new hardware when prompted for drivers i put in a floppy with the highpoint 366 drivers on it i ignored the compatibility warning and it loaded the drivers after rebooting the system recognized the controller i reattached hard drives to the high point controller and they were recognized

today i went into device mgr the mass storage controller was still yellow flagged i uninstalled it in both instances where it was flagged and ran the add new hardware wizard it detected the controller and i directed it to the a drive where the high point drivers were on a flloppy i received an incompatible error message but i opted to install any way i installed the drivers twice once for the primary and once for the secondary controller after rebooting the system the controller was finally recognized i shut down attached another hard drive to the high point controller and it was recognized when i re started the system my main drives are still on the add on promise pci controller but the motherboard controller now works the drivers were the hp 366 driver file 1.25

i had same problem with the same abit mb. i installed a promise contoller card and attached my hard drives to the primary and secondary on the promise controller i didnt use the high point ata 66 controller on the motherboard. my cd rom`s are on the mb ata 33 controller. every thing works fine. maybe high point will get compatible drivers for xp by october
