Hi Having just upgraded to ADSL (I live in the UK and only now has the price come down to a reasonable level) I'm finding that ie has a very annoying habit. Example; I'm surfing the net, I have two ie windows open, I'm loading a page in one and have selected the other to read. The loading page keeps popping to the front as if its trying to say read me I've almost loaded and it’s getting very irritating. Do I just have to live with this or can it be stopped? Thanks shinglung

Hi I've been running my latest install of XP pro for quite sometime now with little trouble (Apart from the Infinite Loop thing and some other small things). But today I thought I would have a play with the Group Policy settings and so I tried to open gpedit.msc, but when I did I got this error; Snap-in failed to initialize Name: Group Policy CLSID:{8FC0B734-A0E1-11D1-A7D3-0000F87571E3} And then when I click on ok it opens the console but shows nothing, and says; Snap-in Creation Failed. The snap-in is not created, it may not be installed properly. Name: Group Policy CLSID:{8FC0B734-A0E1-11D1-A7D3-0000F87571E3} Any ideas what’s happened? Any ideas on how to fix it (preferable with out a complete reinstall) Thanks shingling

That’s to change the look of the new "Welcome Screen" logon. I want to change the style of "classic" logon. I think it has something to do with the default user or all user account. Thanks shinglung

Hi I don't like the new Welcome Screen logon so I use the 'classic' one and I would like to know how to set the theme/style for it? It’s normally the default XP style but I want it to be the same as my accounts style. thanks shinglung

Hi I'm planning to rebuild my PC when I get my copy of XP Pro. The major buy for this rebuild is a new case. I know which case I want to get but I just can't find anyone who sells it in the UK. Can anyone help me find Lian Li PC-621? I also plan to update the BIOS's for all my major devices so can anyone tell me the best ones to use and what they do? Thanks shinglung

The CDs is set to DMA (Multi-Word DMA Mode 2). Thanks for all you help but I guess I'll just have to not play CDs when I'm on the internet. I'm getting a new case soon (If I can find anywhere in the UK that sells the thing) and so I plan to update all the BIOS’s and stuff from my system. Can anyone tell me what the best bios versions for my system? Thanks shinglung

Over the last few weeks I have been having some problems with my internet connection. Sometimes it would work fine and others it would just stop and I'd get loads of Received Errors. After a lot of searching I found that the connection was fine until I played an Audio CD though Media Player and then the connection would go to pot. Until I stopped playing the CD and it would start to work again. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks shinglung

Hi Just got the chance to install RC2 a few days ago and all seemed fine until I updated my GF3 drivers to the new Detonator XP. Now when I do a number of things my system dumps, one is when I paste a bit of text from IE into word and anothe is when I try and run mame. Anyone got any ideas how to stop this? My setup is as follows; + Abit VP6 with dual PIII 1Ghz 133 + 1Gb SDRAM PC133 + Master IDE Channel 1 IBM 15Gb ATA100 HD <- XP is installed on this! + Secondary IDE Channel 1 HP CDRW + Secondary IDE Channel 2 250Mb Zip Drive + Master Raid two Seagate HD ATA60 in Raid 0 + ELSA Gladiac 920 64Mb DDR + Iiyama Vision Master Pro 510 + SB Live Platinum + Pinnacle DV500 + 3Com 10/100 Network Card I'm going to try some of the older drivers. Thanks

I give a sh*t as it’s a f*cking pain when half you screen is taken up buy the title bar on windows. Maybe it’s just me but I think M£ has gone over board and is just trying to make everyone see that the GUI looks new and not really thought about it. A GUI should be clean, simple and not force it's self on you. Maybe it’s just because I'm a graphic designer! Maybe I should just make my own?! But most look crap and end up slowing things down. Well I guess "That’s Life"! William

I'm not sure if I should bother replying to this as it must be a joke!?!? Even at 1600 x 1200 the GUI is huge. The title bar is twice the size it needs to be. William

Hi Is it me or is XP's GUI BIG! Does anyone know if you can change the size of the title bar and start bar? I know the GUI can be smaller because in combustion* if you undock the timeline it uses a small version of the luna GUI (unlike Photoshop)(Is the size programmed in?). Any ideas? William

How can I set it to AGP 4x? Any Ideas? Thanks William

Any Ideas? Thanks William

Hi I have just finished a clean install of XP rc1 and I seem to be having a few problems. My set up is as follows; + Abit VP6 with dual PIII 1Ghz 133 + 1Gb SDRAM PC133 + Master IDE Channel 1 IBM 15Gb ATA100 HD <- XP is installed on this! + Secondary IDE Channel 1 HP CDRW + Secondary IDE Channel 2 250Mb Zip Drive + Master Raid two Seagate HD ATA60 in Raid 0 + ELSA Gladiac 920 64Mb DDR + SB Live Platinum + Pinnacle DV500 + 3Com 10/100 Network Card My Raid drive is giving me problems. When I try to use it, it crashs explorer but not the system, so I'm left with nothing but task manager and that dosn't seem to work either. I've deleted and recreated the Riad drive and reformated it but this does not seem to help. Are they any drivers I can get or does XP have a big problem with the Highpoint chip? Also reading though all the XP forums I can find little bits about what drivers are best but can anyone tell me what the best ones are for the VP6? Thanks William
