CD drives not working with RC1

has this happened to anyone else? I have a Hitachi DVD ROM, and a Mitsumi 4x CD burner. Each one worked fine when I first installed RC1, then after I installed Nero, and uninstalled Nero, is I think where the problem started. I had a freeze problem when I uninstalled Nero, then when I rebooted, Nero was uninstalled, but then each of the CD drives, were not listed as a logical drive. Device Manager had both CD drives listed, but couldn't install the drivers. "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" I've uninstalled, and reinstalled, each time it's the same thing like that. any ideas?

CD drives not working with RC1

hmmm....this is very annoying. dang it. I ended up reinstalling XP. I tried to do a Repair, but that didn't help. I made 3 different DOS partitions, C:, for XP, then D:, and E:, for games and other programs. So I reinstalled XP onto my C: drive, everything was working fine. then now, as I get done installing a program off the CD ROM drive, which is F:, I take out the CD, put in a different one, and the drive just dissapears!!! F: is no longer listed, and its not listed in Device Manager. WTF is happening? I've NEVER seen that happen before, on XP, let alone 95/98/2000/ME before....I'm going to reboot, see if that helps.

Only running at AGP 2x but should be able to do AGP 4x!

did you check your BIOS? usually it's set to a 2x default, you have to manually set it to 4x. that's how it is in my Abit mobo. other than that, if you can't get it to work, i wouldn't worry about it too much, your not going to see a performance increase very much. the extra bandwidth from setting it at 4x can't be utilized by most of today's video cards, due to memory limitations and processor limitations, of the card itself. at least that's what I've heard, i could be wrong.
