No one has had this problem before?

Am I the only 1 who thinks EA are ignorant sluts?

EM: if what you say is true for everyone, I might just have to switch to XP soon enough because I'm sooo tired of trying to get NFS:PU to work under 2000. This is getting pathetic. pmistry: I know what you mean man, but their games are so fun

    NFS5 and Win2k - DirectX problems

Alright... I'm wondering how to get Need for Speed: Porsche Unleased working in Win 2k with an old 3D Prophet card. I seem to have the unpopular problem... it's not the memory leak, it's the DirectX problem. The error message I receive: You have DirectX 0. Please install DirectX 7. Could not load ".\drivers\softdrawz\" [FILE=\real\patch3\pc\set3d.c, LINE=273] I've tried loading numerous different drivers, including the Nvidia 12.41's. The WHQL work fine on my system, but when I install the Non-WHQL I get 16 color mode after reboot. With this, I can actually kind of half-*** load drivers and then change my settings around without rebooting and get NFS5 to recognize that I have 3d hardware. Hmmm... but when I do do this, my system is messed up and will always go back to 16 colors after reboot. Also, the only way I could think to fix this was using the Win2k repair tool on the cd... as my system WOULD NOT accept new video drivers at all... just kept on giving me errors when trying to install new drivers. The first time this happened (I installed the Non-WHQL twice just to test things out), I did something (I don't remember) to try to fix it, and when it rebooted, upon entering Win2k, it started giving me a blue screen and restarted itself, over and over. That's when I first did the Win2k repair. So basically, has anyone else had this DirectX problem with 2k? NOT the memory leak (when the game sits at the loading screen, I can't even get to that point). Like I said, I've tried different drivers, and I've also tried reinstalling both DirectX and the game. I've tried DirectX 7.0 and 8.0a.
