Well it depends on what you want to really do. Both Java and C/C++ have free compilers available, with gui that you can use with them if you prefer, though any text editor will work. If you need something easier, there is visual basic, but that requires software. I recommend visiting http://www.gamedev.net/reference/start_hereGame Dev.net Its a video game programming site. They have a nice walk though about where to get started, that applies to even if you are not making video games. They have links to everything you will need to get started from there. Have Fun

The 5200 is the low budget card for people who want to watch videos on their desktops and maybe play small game. If you play any graphic intensive games this is not the card to buy. The 5600 is an excellent buy, usually running around 119-145. For an equal card you could buy an ATI 9600 or the new 9600 xt for about 170. Of course the ATI has a free license of HL2 when it comes out, so price comparison is about the same if you plan on buying that game.

http://www.elcomsoft.com/azpr.html This program works. And for the $30 registration cost, it is usually well worth paying to open that vital archive file. There is a shareware version, but it is limited in its usage.

There is a great file transfer program which many of you may already have. It is called ICQ. It can transfer files over a network very quickly. So if you end up with any problems use ICQ. Otherwise as they said, use a guest account. Or setup each of the machines with an account the same as the winme startup login. Then it will be able to access what ever the account on the win2k machines can access.

Installed fine, not problems. Haven't seen in errors so far. Haven't seen any visible improvements, other then the Program Access and Defaults menu.

This isn't an update. These are the same drivers from the last release. --------------------------------------------- Harvey Fong of Creative confirms: They apparently read the date wrong from the Creative Labs Europe Web site. The date if 05/02/02 is in mm/dd/yy format, as commonly used in most of Europe and the rest of the world outside of North America. That date would be 5 February, 2002. -- Harvey Fong Technical Marketing Spe[censored]t Audio Products Creative Labs Inc. http://www.americas.creative.com

I have tried out the WinAmp 3.0 in each of its releases so far. It has come a long way from when I tried it in Alpha stages. They are going to have a well written piece of software by the time they get through with the Beta. The new interface takes a little to get used to.

Just like Microsoft, trying to get more money out of everyone. This package should be released as part of Windows XP, not as an upgrade. Its the exact same thing all the video game companies are doing by releasing a game and two months later relasing an update for an extra $40.

I don't know, I haven't been able to get them to install. I goto the update site and run the update but my driver doesn't seem to update in the device manager. After several tries of this, it doesn't show up in the Windows update anymore.

Oops Yeah RC2. I am thinking of RC3 from Win2K and the fact that this is the third time I have installed it, Beta 3, RC1, and RC2. But anyways I still can't get it to work. I haven't found any settigns in XP that should be stopping it from working.

I posted this message over at www.houseofhelp.com as well. I am currently running WinXP RC3. At home I am behind a Linksys router which I have forwarded port 9110 out to my computers ip address. My problem is: I am trying to run Gamevoice Share 1.5. Whenever I try to connect to the Game voice server it disconnects me. I have tried putting my computer in the DMZ as well and that doesn't make a difference. When I dual boot over to Win2k I can connect to the server just fine. Any ideas. I have doublechecked that the firewall setting is not turned on under advanced in networking. Is this just an issue with WinXP? Or is it my configuration? I remember installing the DX Play 8.1 beta patch in Win2k. I know that WinXP is supposed to have 8.1 already? Is that true in the case of DXPlay 8.1?

All I had was Easy CD Creator 4.0 but it works fine for me after patching it up to 4.02 and then to 4.05. It gave me errors after starting windows until I installed the 4.05 patch.

I don't see why they are doing this. I installed Easy CD Creator 4.00 off of my cd then upgraded it to 4.02 and then to 4.05 and it works great. I have heard Direct Cd has issues but I never use it anyways since it is prone to crashing on even new machines.
