Problems copying files from WinXP CD when installing...(Some
Netslayer2k1 replied to Netslayer2k1's topic in Hardware
i figured it out, it was the system was too unstable running the generic memory i have for it at pc133, so i put in some pc100 installed windows, then, i actually went out and exchanged the value sdram with some premium stuff for a few bucks more, and put that in. Works good now, not to sure if windows setup will do that again, no need to check it out however, -
Problems copying files from WinXP CD when installing...(Some

I'm using WinXP RC2, when i try installing it, (put the cd in, boot from it, delete partition, format new one in NTFS) then it tries copying files for windows setup. It ketches most of them, but it will ussually stop every few seconds and either telling me the file image is bad or it cannot copy from the cd, now ive changed cdroms, burned new cds, and tweaked with the bios. What can be causing this? I think it might be some settings in the bios, because i have successfully installed xp from the cd already before... The System: AMD Athalon 900 SOYO board, 300w power supply 256mg PC133 SDRAM generic 52x cdrom, 20gig 7200rpm ata100 drive -
sorry for not providing earlier, Video: 3dfx Voodoo 3 2000 PCI runnin WinXP drivers (2k,98 ones dont work), AMD Tbird 1ghz, 256mg pc133 sdram, Via kt133 chipset, sis board. Ive tried patching DRIVER but it only makes the 3dconfig program recognize theres a 3d card but the program wont start, tried apconfig.

Are previous beta versions of XP upgradable to Final Release
Netslayer2k1 replied to Netslayer2k1's topic in Hardware
thats completely amazing, your windows directory must be huge, because if u change motherboards, video etc, its saves all those drivers, settings and program files (eg ini, sys, dlls) in there. Well who knows with XP, i know the difference even upgrading windows 98 to SE i would do a clean install because of stability (makes it a bit better, 98 still stunk). 8) -

Runnin WinXp RC2 2526 w/ AMD 1ghz tbird, via kt133 chipset The Computer is completely ACPI Power Saving Compliant. After resuming from hibernation it finishes the loading and then stalls at the end of the bar just before its going to finish. Any thoughts to what might cause this? Ohya i have 1 - 256mg PC133 generic sdram chip on it... -
What happened to previewing files in explorer? (windows 2000
Netslayer2k1 replied to Netslayer2k1's topic in Software
I found them, they are hidden, u have to go view - explorer bar - media or windows media, then youll get a little player at the bottom right which u can play previews of file through. -
any way to customize a folder with html files in XP?
Netslayer2k1 replied to Netslayer2k1's topic in Software
okay i figured it out sort of, not the html thing (if anybody knows please post it), to view media like mp3s, videos etc in xplorer, click View - Toolbars - Media(Windows media or whatever), then youll get this huge little website thing, at the bottem is a little player, select a file, then push play, then it works, still think its too long, win2k, u click it and it does it... -
I'm still kinda mad about XP not showing previews for movies, mp3s, etc (except for pictures of course stupid XP), but if anybody knows how to customize folders with html files. (This feature is in windows 2000, right click in a folder and go customize with html file), i thought i might be able to rig it up so that it will preview stuff with a windows media plugin, but doesnt help if u cant touch the folder without html.

Windows XP is the best operating system to come around, i have used Windows 2000 a whole lot (Still love it) but it lacks a lot of stuff in XP, 98/ME stink, Linux (Mandrake 8) is stable, cool but doesnt support windows stuff(unless u can get an emulator to run:-<), that leaves us to the point, the industry needs a new os for home users, Windows XP fills the gap, i know what your saying about the activation, i think its the stupidest thing ever, but still its worth going through and even cracking if u change your system a lot. Basicaly this gets back to the monopoly, Microsoft is the only company that makes an operating system that meets the needs that the everday user and the advanced user can use with compatibility and thats why we will all eventually get to XP. It's like windows 98, who still runs windows 95? ;( unless they think it meets what they need and never need to upgrade anything. ... this can go on forever, thats just my opinion, hate Product activation and any subscriptions or whatever but forced to do whatever they say cause its worth it for a wicked os.

try going to a site with a lot of java, it will then prompt you to install it (unless you have previously disabled that), try the settings in internet tools, um it just downloaded it from there so i dont know the link, try windows update, or if you can find a site with java you know doesnt work, then just try to see if it will let you install it somehow (getting confusing sorry lol)...heres my old website i never finished that used lots of java, its where i got my prompt to install Java VM, http://members.home.com/chrisgermano
