Dude, I asked what hubs and/or switches you are using. Find them, find out if they can run IPX, if so- find out if they are running IPX.

Get all the machines on TCP/IP and Client for MS Networks (if 95/98/ME). Use 192.168.110.xxx as the subnet, use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask, and use [whatever] as your DF IP if you have a router. Specify everyone on the same workgroup name. I'm assuming you aren't running a domain.... Enable file and print sharing and share the resources you want to share.

What router/hub are you using with what type of service? DSL? Modem?

Two things- 1) SP4? Try SP6a. 2) PAsswords. NT 4 is retarded if you have a service that can specify what account to use- and the password. So if you tell a service to use Administrator and then the password, it won't work if you chnage the Administrator password. Just my 2 cents

WIN2K Pro- 1) because it has native ACPI support (NT4 doesn't) 2) because it has native PCMCIA support (NT4 doesn't) 3) because 95/98/ME blows.

If you are running windows 95/98/whatever, just make sure each machine has IPX instaled. Some hubs (like that Linksys BEFSRxxx DSL/cable modem +switch) DO NOT support IPX, so make sure your hubs and switches are cool....

I have 2 Exchange servers on two different LANs in two different states. I'd like to be able to connect the two Exchange servers to share resources between them. Each LAN has a static IP, so I was thinking VPN. One LAN uses a NT 4 Workstation with a proxy server on the static IP (the Exchange Server is behind the proxy server), the other LAN has the PDC (and Exchange server) directly on the the other static IP. Can anyone give provide some advice as to how to create a VPN between the two (using MS platforms)? I tried running an OpenBSD box on both ends, but I had tons of problems with the VPN and using the box as a router for each LAN.
