Hello, Did anyone have a problem with systray not loading? in 2003 server standard I installed a few apps that were fine on xp but after the reboot the systray is gone, even starting it from command line doesn't help(it doesn't start). After removing all the apps for systray it still doesn't load. After setting them to load 10 - 20 seconds after the login doesn't help either. In the meantime, the selection in the taskbar properties under the clock is alltogether grayed out. thanks, ark

Thanks a lot! I wonder, if you could compare the performance with other operating systems on your computer, just subjectional... For example on my system which is a dual amd 2000+ windows xp is noticably faster than 2000 pro. ark

Hi, could anyone tell me, if windows 2003 standard server has cleartype feature? ark

Hello, I just finished upgrading my system including mobo, cpu and hd. After the finished setup XP automatically created 1536 mb or so... swap file on system disk. However since I have 1 gb of ram installed i disabled the swap file alltogether. Anyone has any tips on that? Maybe precautions? What if I actually do run out of memory? ark

hmmm.... I never asked 90% of the questions u answered... oh my do I feel sorry for you? Anyway I don't have it and since u don't know anything about it u don't have it either or u wouldn't be trying to save your face by flaming a simple question. LOL ark

clutch, Whoa, thanks for the links and explanation finally, I don't get it though, why would you want to start out in a rude manner? Just explain the thing without being rude, is it too much to ask? lol I agree that running a server on a desktop is usually an overkill but this server is a little different than the servers before it, a lot more advances and rapid changes are happening in the .net server. It is not at all like NT 4.0 workstation and server nor 2000 workstation and server. This server is gonna be entirely new and improved animal as compared to XP Pro, question is, is it gonna be possible to streamline it enough to run it as desktop? Surely, with Microsoft spending so much effort on it and the new .net technology it just might be a good option for a desktop. ark

Thanks Clutch, that was nice of u to mention that u hate to reply, u were right it did sound rude. Also not much information... If u don't have anything to say, why bother? Did you actually install it? Do u even have it? I've used NT 4.0 and 2000 server as a desktop, had no problem with it, I got good enough hardware to run the server version as a desktop, doesn't bother me at all. But hey....

Hi, anyone used it just for kicks? How does it compare with XP Pro? Any reason to install it? Any reason not to? Any links on this topic? Overkill for a desktop? ark

No problem, I know we all've been a bit distracted lately... Thanks for getting back to me on the subject. ark

Hi, I'm not really steaming with anger, but I would like to see more news items per page on the front page. Why? Because you guys update it so often and there is always plenty of new articles, unless I'm looking at your page all day long hitting a refresh all the time, I'm bound to miss some news. Then a trip to news archive is most unsatisfactory with it's short headers. I have whatznew running here but it seams whatznew gets a lot of memory errors since sp2 so I have to run it manually which is just about the same as refreshing your page all day long. I like the new layout no doubt about it, but would it be possible to have a version of the front page with all todays new? ark
