Your problem is that the Voodoo drivers included in XP don't include supprt for OpenGL. Hope for some divers that do, or get a different video card.

Go to those shoutdown options, and hold down shift, the Standby option will change to Hibernate. Also, in the Power Options contol panel, you can either set the PC to do it after a certain time of inactivity under the Power Schemes tab, or assign it to the power or sleep button under the Advanced tab.

Not a bad system. The thing that would probably help the most in most games would be a newer video card. Most games will run ok in that 128 after the paging is worked out, but another 128 would definatley help, not just in games but in general as well. If you play Diablo II, I'd definatley reccomend more memory, that game seems to hog it up more than any other, but most FPSs will do ok without. And a larger HD would be nice, not just for the size, but also the speed.

I haven't compared it to 9x yet, I may never bother to, but it is definatley faster than 2000 for most games.

This just happens people, adn this isn't the first time. I must say I was pretty unhappy when Aureal went down and was bought out. I had a Vortex 2 card I wanted to use user Win2k. I lived with the trouble for a little time, but eventually just got a new board. I suggest those with 3dfx cards do the same, you can get a Geforce 256 or 2MX quite cheap now. It would be nice for Nvidia to comput with 3dfx drivers, but they really have no resposibility to, and as an over of an Nvidia based video card, I'd rather see them concentrate on their own hardware. Including Glide in the Detonators would be a nice touch though. It is interesting to note that XP seems to get along beter with that Vortex board. It's not fully functional, but it doesn't go out like it did under 2k.

Just in case Xivan and Brian weren't convincing enough, I'm posting to agree with them. 2000 runs slowly with 64 MB, well with 128, better with more than that. 32 MB would bring either of those OSes to a crawl with constant paging. Memory is creap, put at least another 64 in both, or might as well go 128 or more with the low prices now.
