Anyone else have some more advice? 1ghz amd tbird abit kt7raid 512mb RAM I've installed the latest 4.33s for the board, flashed my bios and installed the latest version, installed usb filter and STILL usb just randomly DIES during a boot. It will work fine, then boom.. it will stop. Interesting to note- whenever this happens, I won't be able to shut down the computer. Instead of shutting down- it will just lock instead of turning off the computer. Is this an ACPI problem instead of USB?

I was gonna say maybe its a juice/heat problem going to the video card, but I don't have that problem with my abitkt7raid 1ghz tbird. But, whats your power supply?

Quote: Gravis hasn't made drivers compatible with XP, hell not even windows 2000. My advice is to stay away from Gravis products. Not only do they not support their products very well but I've yet to have a Gravis controller last more then 5 months without breaking in some way. Well, I can't speak for his second statement, but he's right. Gravis' rumble and force feedback is only supported in win98/me Too bad Gravis' gamepad designs are the only good ones (for ergonomics and smart button layout)

Quote: A lot of people still playing Tribes 2? I should put it back on. I thought a lot of people abandoned it cuz dynamix broke up, so i heard.. Recently a few weeks ago, there was another patch released for Tribes 2. For some people, it ruined their framerate- I haven't noticed any problems with it. It also introduced CRC checking- so that custom skins and the like wouldn't be allowed in a server unless it was disbled. It also introduced demo recording (finally). This was and will be the last patch released from the 'original' Tribes 2 dev team. Since Dynamix was gone, Sierra is having the dev team for SWAT to continue support for Tribes 2. There is no heads-up on development of another patch at the present time however.

Plz let me know

I tried that workaround on my abit kt7 raid. USB STILL quits after 20-30 mins.
-
Well, reinstalling xp fixed it. I'm nearly certain that the logitech quick cam was the culprit.

any chance I have to reinstall dx8.1? and.. if so.. where do I download it... 8.0a is the only one available to officially download.

in dxdiag: DirectMusic test results: Failure at step 6 (Activating the IDirectMusicPort): HRESULT = 0x88780078 (No driver) I get that trying to test directmusic with the 'microsoft synthesizer' port, but the phillps and sblive! ports (both wave devices say they are 'software' type) work. I have no 'sound' tab in dxdiag, only music. How can I find out if a program is taking over for devicemanager?
-
I can't find any service that seems like it would have anything remotely to do with sound.
-
Just to give you an idea of how ****ED UP it is: I've installed, uninstalled, rebooted.. bla bla bla. NOTHING.
-
Device manager says they are installed, but any application that uses sound only uses the PC speaker, and all sound apps get the "there is no functioning sound device on this system" WTF WTF WTF?!!? Last thing I did was install a logitech USB cam... but I removed that and rebooted, STILL NO SOUND My Device manager has them listed.. BUT I CAN'T CHOOSE THEM IN MY SOUND OPTIONS.

The game doesn't crash, but this lag happens every 8 10 minutes
