Turns out it was the Nvidia driver I installed. Switch to a different one, or use a WHQL driver. Thats what I would try first. Then again, you are using a VIA board.... hehe
-
Damn VIA boards... hehe For this very reason I refuse to go to VIA MBs... Did you re-apply the Via 4 in 1 drivers? Sounds like SP2 overwrote your AGP driver and your IDE Controller driver, although most likely its the AGP driver. As for the BSOD you should disable the reboot Automatically option so you can see what driver is causing this. That also depends on what kind of Blue Screen error you are getting, sometimes it shows what driver is causing this. You dont happen to have a Gravis joystick hooked up to your Game Port by chance? I know I was getting BSOD with my Gravis Exterminator digital game pad hooked up.

I've been saying that very thing for a while now. Damn FEABLE 9x.... I refuse to have to use it anymore... Win2000 for me...

Error accessing registry, EVERY DAMN BOOT!
-Wrath-Child- replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Legacy OS
Just like you said, gives you an error about a problem with the registry and it wants to restore a backup, then it reboots and the same error comes up, just won't go away. We had users simply move the error window off the screen and all was well. We tried everything, the only way to fix it was to format and re-install. We are still not sure what caused it, but it did start when we implemented a Logon Policy from our BDC. Out of 4 almost identically setup PC's, 2 of them did this. Crazy ****, drives my nuts sometimes... -
How to enable UDMA66 in Win 2000?? ..plz help
-Wrath-Child- replied to Son Gokou's topic in Hardware
Like I was saying, this tread started with buddy trying to enable DMA on a MB where his HDDs are connected to a HPT controller, therefore his IDE ports will say NOT APPLICABLE! This is true because there are NO hard drives on the internal MB IDE channels. They are connected to his HPT controller, which is listed under SCSI devices in Device manager. Nothing is wrong here. His HPT controller will automatically be detected his HD speeds, or you should be able to enter the BIOS of the controller upon bootup like a SCSI card and check what it is setting this to. BTW I've seen bench marks compairing DMA 66 to DMA 100, and the diff is virtually no existent. The only thing that is being transfered at 66/100 MB/s is what is stored in the cache on the HD itself. So if you are copying large files, the speed of the drive is the important thing, 7200 vs 5400, but then again that also varries with diff manufacturers... All of the fixes you guys posted for the first guy, won't do anything for him... but then again, I could be wrong... hehe -
First of all, you have to have 2 network cards in the PC connected to the Cable modem. You didn't say, but I think you do. You hard code your internal LAN NIC on the cable modem PC to something like 192.168.0.10, you can leave your other PC on DHCP, it should get an address from your ICS when its working. But for troubleshooting, I would hard code your second PC as well, use 192.168.0.2, your Subnet should automatically be set to 255.255.255.0, which is correct. Make sure they access each other in Network Neighbourhood and stuff. Once you know all works fine between them, then share your Internet connection. When you do this, your internal LAN NIC's IP address will be re-assigned to 192.168.0.1, so don't hard code this address anywhere or it will complain. If you were successfull in enabling ICS without any errors, you should put your second PC back to DHCP. Reboot or do an IPCONFIG /release then /renew. You should have pulled the required addressing from you ICS PC. Your gateway and DNS should both read 192.168.0.1, your IP will be anything in the 192.168.0.xxx range, this should be all you have to do. Win2k ICS works like a charm compared to WIN98, were you can't even received files through ICQ without disabling it in 98. I've set this up many times for people without issues. I'm suprised your having problems...
