What about the windows built in defrag program??
-
I play quake 2 also and a fix would be very nice

Thanks alot bilston for looking into that for me! I've got an MS intellimouse USB and I checked the driver version of it and it's driver version is 4.0.0.657 so maybe I did find it some time ago and just didn't realize it One thing I have noticed is that in the 2 months that I have used XP it seems as though over time the mouse seems to feel the way I had liked it to feel like it did when I used 98, 98se, and ME. But I have a feeling that I have just gotten used to the way the mouse feels now over time from using it so much. I dont really know though since I haven't played any games on any system with an OS of something other than XP.

Hey bilston you wouldn't happen to have a link to that "mouse driver update"? I've been to windows update many many times over the last month or so, and even checked the windows update catalog, and unless I just overlooked it, I dont recall ever seeing any type of mouse driver update there

This sucks, this thread was started over a month ago and still no solution....

Just wondering everyones thoughts on what the absolute best overall CD burner there is right now? Preferably under 100 bucks

I've heard some rumor's that you shouldnt leave any CD's in your CD drive even when your computer is off, this some kind of old wives tale or is there any truth to this?! Why would it not be ok to do this!?!?
-
I went ahead and installed the drivers they work pretty good but not great...
-
The drivers on the CD work fine some of you say but which drivers exactly are you guys referring to?! The win2k ones or the 98 ones?! I'm assuming the win2k ones because of the fact that I used to be on 98 and did an upgrade to XP and voila no more sound! So it must be win 2k's. Is it?!

Anyone else have a problem with the way the mouse feels in general as opposed to 98 or ME? I noticed there are 2 threads with this topic but none of em ended with a fix all solution. When I installed XP build 2600 I did an upgrade from ME, and when I went to play quake2 and also quake3 I noticed the wierdness of the mouse. It's like when you try and do a smooth (circle jump)turn it has like a split second delay when you start the turn, and then it'll like try and catch up with what your doing. It doesnt feel as responsive as it did in 98 and ME. It's almost kind of jerky at times. I dont know exactly how to describe it. It has to do with XP though I know for a fact and not my video card drivers or anything else. I usually use a MS intelli mouse and tried a logitech mouse and it still feels wierd! Tried installing the newer 4.01 drivers that came out within the last couple of weeks and tried messing with the settings in the drivers of the mouse itself and nothing fixes it. Something in XP's code or something screws up the way it feels. I tried some of the posts where you modify the registry and that didnt fix it. M$ just had to come along and try and fix something that didn't need to be fixed! I know some so called solution's have come up for games like Half Life but what about just fixing it period? Even just scrolling around on the desktop it doesnt feel quite right like it used to.
