did you try using 3082 drivers? i have the same graphics card and been using 30.82 (and no other Leadtek stuff) and UT2003 is fine. got a diff system though kt3 ultra XP1800 pc2700 audigy winxp sp1 leadtek ti4200 64mb

some more. drivers i am using: via 4in1: whatever windows supplied and sp1 supplied graphics: 30.82 (didn't touch the leadtek cd) audi0: creative drivers off the AUDIGY CD my install proceedure: have only AGP NIC in TAKEout the sound card. insert xp cd format and install (i went fat32 this time) wait wait wait wait input your network stuff as asked activate later get to desktop copy over winzip8 (prev burned) adobe (prev burned) (previously burned sp1) 30.82 drivers (prev burned) install the sp1 first do winzp and adobe install the 30.82 next then get to your internet and get it going activate winxp when all is running fine power down (make a restore point here if you want) plop in the AUDIGY make sure it is in an open irq slot, or non sharing pci slot. reboot login as admin (do tha for every time you are installing sheet) windows will attempt to do a whole whack of things. (task bar corner goes nuts telling you it found a whole bunch of stuff) just let it do its thing HIT CANCEL TWICE TO FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARD. (it should do it twice maaaaaaaybe 3 times just wait for a while and do nothing but cancel the windows) after you wait, and it looks like win has stopped messing around, put the AUDIGY cd into the cdrom and install away. reboot as asked. (you can leave the cd in) and you are done enjoy the creative labs propaganda. if you have problems here on in, once you reboot try making some bios changes to help with the problems this is with a fresh install and not using the GAMEPORT BRACKET that comes with the audigy since hardly any game controllers work in xp anyways that are not usb type. this is just a basic guidline.... note, i am not using any part or whole of the 4in1 drivers, only what winxp gave me. i have been stress testing the pc and have found that: SANDRA puts my stuff at a normal range of benchmoark scores. even HD score is now 22000 (ata100 7200rpm hd 15gb) 3dmark2001se gives me 9400 (well within normal specs) no crashes in games. or 3d apps like ssavers. ut2003 benchmark: DM ANTILUS gives me 20/36/75 av=36fps at 1024x768xshq settings (2003 benchmark scores are a little low for what i was expecting, however 2001se gave me normal scores, so i will leave it at that) i have not applied any REFRESH FIXES YET EITHER..... since i am at 60hz still. and monitor is set to 75hz always. no lockups or bsod. this is a VIA pc ;(

MSI KT3 ULTRA PC2700 WinXP SP1 xp1800+ AUDIGY (drivers off the supplied cd) LEADTEK GF4TI4200 30.82 stable as can be. with NO added via drivers. just what xp installed. gaming is fun, no bsod no lockups i rely on this pc, and if it wasn't working reliably i would be all over the place screaming bloddy murder..... people that "hear" that via and windows don't get along, then perhaps they should get some hands on experience to finally put their tepidations to rest.

well, all was working fine. realllllly fine. but UT2003 asked me to download a audigy driver to fix some stuttering in game with EAX being used. so i head over to creative.com and try to find the AUDIGY driver which matched my card. i downloaded the file. ~12mb .exe and extracted it and installed it, it removed a whole whack of files, and told me to reboot. so i did. BSOD forever when it tried to reboot. so i F8 and i get DETECTED NEW HARDWARE PCI DEVICE i hit cancel to it and look in device manager and there are a whole wack of yellow ? hmmmmm..... and of course i proceed to go with found new hardware. and as usual it craps out and says it cant find anything. so i go and try to run the .exe again in safemode. (no creative device found exiting installation) was the answere. so i then UNINSTALL all the creative labs stuff and don't need to remove it from DM since it aint there anymore and try to reboot normally with my audigy cd in hand to go the (as if installing from scratch route) and i still get the same BSOD error some EMXXX error (i am assuming it is still creative since that is a EMULK chip... so i then F8 and try that LAST KNOWN GOOD BOOT option. and get BSOD again. so i boot with win2k cd in and try REPAIR option, and reboot and BSOD again. hmmmmm..... so that is where i left it at. ..... frustrated and didn't want to rupture a blood vessel..... any thoughts or tips..... later i will try and completely pull the audigy from the pci socket and see where that goes....

well... yup, pulled the audigy from the pc and rebooted with no problems. hmmmm wonderfull job CREATIVE LABS. great work on you drivers.... ;( obviously if all is peachy when i pull the card, then it was the creative audigy driver kit upgradewhich fubar'd the pc somehow. now i got no sound....

Hey, fresh install of win2k go right to SP3 (skip2) dont have sound card in the pc yet, get everything up and running first then after that power off and install the soundcard (or enable it in bios) reboot and: try and install any sound card. is it just me?

hmmm. i had a v3 and office2k and win2k. they all got along fine. that pc was used for word and excel so i would have known if anything was buggerd . if i remember i had only sp2 and no updates for office2k and only had word and excel installed, not outlook or pp i was using the last offficial dx8 win2k drivers for the v3 too. i then updated to XP and had to go hojur(or whatever his name was) voodoo drivers for xp as eventhough 2d was ok, gaming sucked in xp after the update. when i went to the modifed drivers they brought back 3dfxtools and could get some half decent gaming out of the v3. but that also did not confilct with office2k either (in xp) i would be very surpised if the v3 drivers buggered it for you. reason why i kew it worked is that was my wifes pc. and she is litteraly pc illeterate. and would have screamed bloddy murder if it was even the slightest broken. she never complained.

so was the bx, i am using bx, i815 i815(tulanian) and either will work with win2k like a dream, but i spend a lot of time with the via as well too, apollo pro (intel) and kt133 kt333now and thoes need babying on a fresh install of win2k. xp is different, i have the old p3v4x with xp and i did jack squat for additional install (still using the via drivers that xp installed) and apart from updateing the geforce drivers i havnt had to touch the xp system. and it runs like a dream.

ya, you are soooo right, it is a pain in the arse. i have always found that installing with as min a possible, and then adding in stages, was the least way for problems, so the system worked for me so i always stayed with it.

i am running a gf1ddr with 2832 and my display properties tab are correct as when i was with 2311 (winXP) (now i am gonna go home tonight and check for sure) but i would have noticed if it was as you described.

ya, i put sp3 on FIRST before installing the audio stuff. i alway build the pc with the bare essentials, AGP NIC only, THEN when i am the desktop for the first time i run 4IN1 then SPx then i do the AGP card drivers. when all is working, i THEN power down and add the SOUND card and install the driversfor that. THIS is where the system broke down. it wouldnt install EITHER of the sound card devices with SP3 i did nothing extra, in methodology, i reformated and iserted sp2 instead of sp3, no problems. and YES you can AFTERWARDS deploy SP3, i have done that and have had no problems, it was only on a fresh install with sp3. has anybody else run into this? that is my main question.

it was an AUDIGY and the otehr was AC97 (5.1) which came with the MSI KT3 ULTRA onboard. neither would work. the software would install fine, but it wouldnt install the device. every reboot, it would try and install (found new hardware) and say there was a problem and get me to the desktop. like i said all software was there, just the yellow ? in device manager. the audigy was same deal. i would put the audigy cd in and perform the tasks, and it would appear to install everything, then it asks to reboot, and i do and then it does the same thing, THEN the AUDIGY stuff launches, all the propaganda stuff after an initial install and there was no sound. i nuked the win2k and went SP2 instead. all was fine ??!!

i installed it a few days ago from my windows update from start menue, it took a long time installing the SP3, but it went ok, and there where no problems to date on this pc. A7V133 XP1800+ 256PC133 GF4TI4200 AUDIGY things are working ok so far (knocks wood).

iwill kk266-r maxtor 8gig onboard sound with the mobo dlink nic creative 48x cdrom 1stick of 256 ram pc133 athlon 100fsb 1ghz cpu ati rage128 agp video i don't have anything on the raid controllers disabled USB in bios i am only installing with the: agp nic hd cdrom sound jumper set to on..... i set to boot from cd first and the install proceeded i set the single hd to one partition NTFS select it formatted then proceeded to install win2k all seemed fine, i goto the point where i set my keyboard and time settings and typed in the cdkey then gave teh pc a name blablabla what happens then it the last part where it registers the components and then just hangs and hard locks i let it sit there for a good 20minits cause some times the install takes a while at that stage but the mouse wasn't responding, (ps2 mouse) and then i had to hit the reset button, and it then did the final stages of the install again, then just hung, this time sooner. i am going to pull the nic (dlink 10/100 dfe 530tx) and disable the onboard sound for now, see if that helps, but i wouldn't mind some added input on what might be causing this install to choke. as mentioned nothing is on the raid ide's the cdrom is SECONDARY MASTER the hd is PRIMARY MASTER the RAID JUMPER is set to OFF as well and in bios the ide devices are seen correctly, i am using a 300w power supply as well. i am a little stumped. TIA

n-mind i did disable onbaord sound and pulled the nic, it finished the install and am at my desktop, first thing i did on the fresh install was INSTALL VIA 4IN1 4.27A kit (the one just released the other day) rebooted then installed SP2 it hardlocked on the sp2 install i rebooted again and restarted the sp2 install and it completed. so far so good.....

since you are still fat32, does the win98bootdisk scenario work? just boot with the disk then format then insert the winXP cd and boot from that to install from fresh? i havn't done that yet, but will it work? anyone?

i just got a sbliveAUDIGY oem it was for sure bloatware and the install was painstaking in win98se but it got it going without too many problems..... lw3 and pc3 are just cool! to say the least. they work fine, and i can rip all my old audiocd's (unlimited) to the hd as .wav or mp3 and do it quickly. there was alot of software in the OEM version! it was identical (other than the gold plated connectors) as the mp3 or gamer but just no games! i got firewire now too. the thing is a good replacement to my old live!4.1 i havn't gone and run it in win2k or XP yet, but with 98se it runs fine and i like this product, just hate creatives marketing schemes and downloads but the card is a solid performer, on my pc anyways.....

i have one way of getting the live! to work, it is a LOOOONG and roundabout way,. but it worked for me. i installed win2k got it all running fine then UPGRADED to winXPpro keeping all my cards in their slots sound nic agp then after the upgrade, i got winXP drivers and installed them for the agp nic diddn't need to worry about and the live! well it works, but all my old software like pc2 and soforth wouldn't install...... failed to load plug in type of messages i then went and downloaded and installed the 8meg patch at creative lags site. all my live!sheet works.... like i said this looks like alota work just to get the live! going... but it worked for me, and untill winXP and creative get their heads on right, i will run a win2k setup then UPGRADE to XP scenario....

I figure 1 maybe 2 service packs & we are looking at THE finest work in the way of Os' Ms has pushed out so far if you ask me, it's not too shabby so far as is especially after the latest Windows Update from MS for XP! Bingo! APK just like win2k was apon first release, sp1 was pratcticlly out the door in the oem cd's! Yup, APK, it is me.... lol havn't gone and done any wintune97 tests yet since our last round! and now you know it IS me, you also know that i could carealess about what others say about me, i do MY work to help others out, APK, after running my LIVE! without liveware and comparing it to my other pc with a sb16 (ensoniq) pci, they are so bloddy close it isn't funny! the liveware is what really set the card apart from the sb16 or sb128! without the software it IS just a sb16 for the most part... i am looking at replacing with a HERCULES FORTISSIMOII that looks like a good replacement untill the smoke settles with creatives' crapola... btw, when M.S. released xp so did hercules (released xp drivrs/softwre upgrade) i am partially thinking that it was my v3 drivers i used for XP, that started to give BOSOD more and more, i keep getting WIN32K.SYS PAGEFAULTS and it appers to be more and more as time goes on and after i did the switch to G.O.D. v3 drviers (if drivers where done right, the v3 would be a decent card in winxp) alot of the games i have been testing on such as Q3/OPENGL UT/GLIDE REDFACTION/D3D are all kindof ok with that o.s. i am beating a dead horese however, since there WILL BE NO more 3dfx drivers, imo, for that o.s. and it is almost mute for me to continue any further running xp with a v3! the 2d was awesome with it though, and the kid's 2d games run well, had to windown down to 640x480 res to have full screene on some of the games, as even win compatibility didn't fix it...... i like the o.s. and think that after a sp or 2 this will finally drive the last nail into the win98se coffin!!! and finally put that o.s. out for good!

i bought all my o.s.'s however i learned my lesson with WIN2K (remember how well that went over with it's first few weeks/months out) after now having a good stable win2k pc, guess what rolls out the door a year later, with a whole new rigormorole, i am not trying to diss the o.s., opposite, usually i have noted alot of good points about it previously, and my main gripe is with creative, winxp will go through growing pains, and after i dished out 500+ for my win2kpro (last year, and that wasn't including 500 for a legal cd of office2k pro) i dont think i want to hold microsoft's hands on this growing pain, that is also why i mentioned that these where just my point of views.... (full version of officeXPpro is 800$ where i am, fyi) i rather like winxp, ALOT, but is it enough to switch my PAID for win98 or win2k, nope, and YES, i bought a retail boxed sblivexgamer, and was NOT expecting to pay for it's software on a o.s. 1yr later, when you NEVER have with creative software previously, only NOW has creative thought to turn a buck here in this area! HECK if ROXIO /ELABORATE BYTES/ NERO/ NORTON can, why not US! i payed for EAX presets in windows, that is now a purchase i will need since without liveware3 THE LIVE'S are just SOUNDBLASTER 16'S....... expensive ones, i want to buy winXP and remove my 'copy'!! and like i mentioned, OR HAVE THE BALLS TOO, not like half you here have had the illegal version at one point or another..... am testing ALL my games and hardware before I<----- let 500 of MY hard earned $$ go to BILLY'S upgrades to his house on the seaside! so far my APPS are ok, for the most part, but it is my hardware like soundcard/video card which won't run right *with their intended designs* with the operating system

i have been testing out my 'COPY' of winXP PRO since in these days i REFUSE to buy before testing...... i am serious about that too! i have run WINXPpro through my own ringers, i have not tried out winXPhome (seen it in action in the shop) and have come to this conculsion....... as stated above: 'Basically get Home if you don't know a thing about computers and don't plan on doing anything with them and if you don't plan on fixing ' answere: then stick with win98se that is my primary pc's o.s. since it is flawless... i have win2kpro+sp2 and it is way more stable than my winxppro i have found that RIGHT NOW i refuse to beta test for a new operating system, all the 3rd party software, and REFUSE to pay creative labs for my usless SOUNDBLASTER LIVE! X-GAMER with NO working software since i cant seem to download any for my retail boxed x-gamer at creative labs site, now reading, i have to PAY for liveware3 XP hmmmmmm..... my v3 which works flawlessly in win2k and 98se is rendered USELESS in winXP (no matter which drivres i use there is always problems or some sort) the USER interface of XP is cool, i actually like this O.S. but having to drop money on it right now is not what i have in mind, maybe after XPPRO-SE lol comes out, maybe, but for me to drop 500$ big canadian bucks on a retail xpPRO is not fun, cause i will haveto go and buy a new sound card and (in my case) a new video card to run XP with reliabiity, is it worth it right now BUYING the latest and greatest MICROSFOT product........... NO IT IS NOT. we are pretty much forced to buy MICROSOFT but we are not forced to buy creative labs, (i hope someone at creative labs reads this) winxp pro: a good o.s. but as with all things related to the pc industry these days, don't buy right when it is releases, you are a beta tester if you do..... i myself don't want that, but that is just me.......

for the past while, i have had some unexplained BSOD c/w stack dumps resulting in reboots i don't know if it is related to my v3 drivers which i installed, i installed the g.o.d. ones over the original xp supplied ones. i also notice more BSOD recently, and there was a MS UPDATE for SBLIVE and CRITICAL PATCH for AUG-OCT i am running devils own 2600 xp pro (for testing purposes) the most common error is wvm32.sys or something like that (i am not at the pc where i wrot the eror down) i must say that (if it isn't the v3 drivers) i have had MORE BSOD with this O.S. than with win2k and win98se COMBINED in the same amount of time! i love this o.s. but am not fully convinced of it's usefullness over win2k right now..... this after using it for a month or so now.... i have pretty much found that the user interface and nice screenies and colors are the only difference (basically) to win2kpro i like the logon screen and it's features i like the new user interface but it isn't worth it over stablity (oh the gripe i have is with creative labs as well) but that is a whole different story.....

re-installing does NOT work! been there done that, however, if you NUKE the REGISTRY keys for cloencd (elaboratebytes) then reboot (after uninstalliing the progie first) maybe that will let you install, also, if your version is LEGIT then upgrade to a newer version of ccd then input your pword and key btw, if you are using a keygen, it will not work with the 3.x versions of ccd! it will unlock it for 1 MONTH only then you are fubar'd and will haveto drop to a version in the 2.x btw, if it is legit just mail them about the problem, that program is well worth the $$ so buy it! let's say that my 60$ burner and 50$(can)ccd has burned ALL my games without a hitch! STREK HIDDENEVIL STREK VOYAGER MECH3 THIEF VAMPIRE MASQUERADE PROJECT IGI SYSTEMSHOK2 BZ2 many many more! no crakcs or patches needed! well worth the $$, and if your copy is legit, like i said, eBYTES should have no problem helping you out....
