System Shock 1 - SVGA version

Has anyone been able to get the SVGA version of System Shock 1 to run. I can run the VGA version fine (although I cannot seem to get sound effects with VDMSound), but the SVGA version always complains about getting access to one of the Serial ports. Any solutions/ideas? Almost forgot: This is in Windows 2000. Arbury

    Problem deleting files

Hmm, our systems seem quite different. Asus A7V133 (has Promise FastTrak 100 lite onboard hd controller) AMD Thunderbird 1.4Ghz 512 MB SDRAM ATI Radeon 32DDR hd1: 10GB FAT32 hd2: 30GB NTFS (System) hd3: 60GB NTFS Adaptec AHA-2940W/2940UW SCSI card Pioneer 40x SCSI CD US Sertek 36x CD Plextor 12x10x32x EIDE Sound Blaster Live! Full 3Com 10/100 network hd1+hd2 are different partitions of the same drive hd3 is two 30GB IBM drives in a RAID configuration The only common points I see are: The SCSI card - Should not be an issue The CD-Writer - Should not be an issue The SB Live - I considered this an issue because of problems it reported had with VIA Athlon chipsets, but your configuration is Intel based and shows the problem. The amount of HD space - We both have fairly large amounts of HD space, but not so much that this problem should not have been encountered before if it is related. Last night I downloaded the newest version of the FastTrak 100 drivers, and in the limited testing I did I never encountered the problem. I will play around with it some more tonight and see if this fixed the problem. Arbury

    Problem deleting files

I have the exact same problem. It seems to occur in any directory, but not all the time. It does seem to occur more often if there are lots of files in the directory (>1000) but I have also had it happen with as few as 100. Ancker, what motherboard are you using? I have a Asus A7V and I am running my HDs off the onboard Promise controller. I am wondering if this is a problem with the drivers for the controller.
