major prob with win95 machine !! - - Please help me !!
Tomay replied to Radioactive Frog's topic in Legacy OS
Stuff like this sometimes happens when you overclock or set to agressive ram timings. You might try to reset the cmos. -
I've been thinking the same thing, but there is no way to directly plug your vga into a tv. You need some kind of a converter. BTW why don't you get an cheap agp card with tvout? I got myself a geforce mx200 tvout for my system and it was really cheap.

Thinkin of ATI or nvidia? For ati I would recomend a 9700 or an 9500 if you can still get one. I have an 9600 and it's ok but an 9500 would be faster.

I had no problems switching systems with the same xp install with intel systems. If it didn't boot up I just choose the repair option in the setup. I also done the same when I switched from intel to via. The system works, but I have problems with power management. The system just shows "preparing to hibernate (standby)..." screen and nothing happens, but for now I can live with that.
-
But you can't really see the diference.
-
There is a difference but not such a huge one. 3dmark scores are almost the same, q3 gains the most. In other applications like office... you won't even notice the difference. But if you're buying an 800fsb P4 get DDR400. If DDR400 is to expensive get a 533mhz P4 with DDR333 and save the money for something else.

Flashing the bios was the first thing to do. Nothing special in the event wiever. Tried prime95 and it gave me errors with the torture tests. Now I'm running it stock for a few hours (9 or so). Should I increase the voltage to burn in? I'm not overclocking the ram cos it's a 2700. Celeron normaly runs at 2100 wen I OC it runs at 2700 and this ram supports CL2 up to 133 CL2.5 up to 167. Don't see any problem here. How long sould I keep the prime95 running? Do these tests go in a loop or are they random?

It could have been Johndoe23 not johndoe23 but I'm pretty sure.
-
No problems with memtest. It's a brand new comp. Memory is not Oc-ed and running inside specs.
-
You don't need to fill out all 3 conditions. I think 2 are enough like johndoe23.

Check what AGP version you have. The new motherboards have agp 3.0 (8x) 1,5V and the specs have to mach. The K7N2 delta has agp 3.0. It could be a power issue (the card not getting enough power). You can increase the agp voltage in the bios (not too much you can damage the card that way too). Did you completley remove the old drivers. You can try a fresh install of windows to see if the same thing happens.

Could be true but not in my case, cos it also happens when not OCed. anyway I'm burning in with seti@home for almost a week (24/7). Case and CPU temps are almost 50°C, and the computer seems stable. So far so good, but I'm not gonna atempt to go beyond 3,2GHz without some aditional cooling. I've read http://developer.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/thermal.htm that intel recomends temperatures around 40°C. I also read somewhere that if you take your heatsink off your P4 while operating it'll lower the clock when the cpu gets too hot so you can't burn the cpu. BTW I'm getting higher sandra and 3dmark scores if the cpu has been idle for a few minutes (the temp drops to 30°C). Could it be that my cpu is lowering the clock because it's too hot?

I had a similar problem on a athlon system. I added a new user copied the files and deleted the old one. Never found out what was wrong...

Quote: Who did you get this system from? that is SUCH BS if you open your case it will void the warrenty - so if u want a rma upgrade you have to send your WHOLE case to the shop that is BS Who did this syetm for you, PLEASE let me know did they put sticks on the joints to say if it is broken the warrenty is void? let me know full details, sure there is a way around it P.S have u been over to http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/index.php?s= may want tro check it our if your getting into O/C'n alot. It's one of the biggest computer shops in our country called ComTron. Yes they put stickers on the joints If I want to change anything I have to take it tho them and they charge for it. They said that they don't want anyone to add any components that would damage the computer ... Yeah BS I'll tear of the sticker sooner or later anyway, but it still sucks. -
I think norton ghost will do it or partition magic.

I have an ASUS P4P800

But I'm running not overclocked now and PSU temps are almost the same. Maybe a cheap 250W PSU just labeled as 300W. I ordered the components to build my own box, I too hate those prebuilt stuff. But I got the case and a LG 52x burner for almost the same price as all the other components alone. I asked if I still had 1 year component waranty if I open the case and they said it will void all waranty. I probably won't be able to keep my hands from opening the box after a month or two. But if something fails it'll be expensive -
I know where to stick my dimm's into. What I wan't to know is if there are any other dual-channel modes beside linear?

After running seti@home for 3 units in a row: stock @2,4GHz the board has 45°C and the CPU 48°C OCed @3,2GHz the board has 49°C and the CPU 47°C I've added an extra fan to suck the hot air out at the back. The side of the case still gets kinda warm. I'ts a nice feature in the winter, but now we have 30+°C here. The second thing that wories me is that the air that comes out of the PSU is much warmer than the one that is sucked out of the case. I took an ambient thermometer to measure the temp. The air that comes out of the case has 35°C the air that comes out of the PSU has 41°C The air that comes out of my old Celeron's 1,3 PSU has 32°C The ambient temp in my room is 30°C and the outside temp is 26°C. The 4 °C have been generated by my new computer over the night (at stock speed). Gonna OC the bastard cos I like sauna I would install better cooling, but I can't open the case cos it'll void my 2year waranty. It was enough pain to install a secod fan through the psu opening. It's like fixing your car's engine through the exhaust. -
It's stable alright. The same thing happens at stock speed. Beside if the cpu is unstable you usualy can't shut down the windows, you have to pull the plug Have tested with seti@home 3 units in a row (10,5 hours)

New game rig (replaced celeron 1,3 geforceMX). ASUS P4P800 Celeron 2,4 2x 512MB transcend PC2700 80GB 6Y080L0 Radeon 9600 128MB I Overclocked the celeron to 3,2 just to notice that the side wall of my case that the mobo is screwed on to is getting quite warm (running on stock cooling) The CPU temp is 40°C (47 on load) and the MB temp is 43°C? Gotta get and active cooled northbridge. Faster than a P4 3,06 according to sandra It's still good for 9663 3dmarks, but still gotta optimize the ram/chipset timing. Sure to go around the magic 10000. P.S. definetly need more cooling. 8) -
Quote: celerons are still only good for entry PC's where all one does is word and such! there is no point in assciating a celeron with that mobo! - complete waste. if all your do is word and surf the web, no gaming, ditch that mobo and get a cheap board under $100. Don't seem like a complete waste to me. I still got the 2.4 celeron and it's not bad, not bad at all. I OCed it to 3.2 with dual chanell DDR at 333. 8786 3dmarks (3dmark2001SE). Sisoft Sandra 8309 - 1840/4207 ; 12649 - 16218. I know it would be better if I OCed a 2.4C but right now my celeron in running faster than a stock 2.4C. I just hope that the P4P800 will support the pentium5 comming out end of 2003.

I think I have the latest chipset inf. 5.0 build 1012.

Quote: XP Pro is a workstation O/S 2003 SERVER - is a server O/S But you can still use 2003 server as a workstation. There are even guides around how to do it. And 2003 is quite faster
