'Realistic' & FUN driving sims... will there ever be any
Tomay replied to Curley_Boy's topic in Slack Space
Ally you driving simulation freaks should try "Total Immersion Racing". It's quite realistic. Nothing like NFS. -
Check out http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide&dId=120&dPage=1 for tweaks. For your problem I have two: Tweak #8 - Automatically Kill Programs At Shutdown don't you hate it when, while trying to shut down, you get message boxes telling you that a program is still running? Making it so that Windows automatically kills applications running is a snap. Simply navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop directory in the Registry, then alter the key AutoEndTasks to the value 1. Note: the key 'AutoEndTasks' might not exist. If not, simply create it with a value of 1. To disable the AutoEndTask feature, simply change the value back to 0. http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide&dId=145&dPage=1 Tweak #3 - Shutdown on speed By altering a few registry settings, you can dramatically decrease the amount of time it takes for Windows to shut down. To do this, first open up the registry editor and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\ Once there, find the value HungAppTimeout and make sure it is set to 5000 (that's the default). Now, in the same folder, look for the value WaitToKillAppTimeout. Set this to 4000 (the default is 20000). Lastly, navigate to the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\ and change the value WaitToKillServiceTimeout to 4000 as well. Another thing that helps speeding up shutting down is going to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and then setting the NVidia Driver Help service to Manual. Hope it helps.

drive sharing problem on client win98 server installed win2k
Tomay replied to abrarmalik's topic in Networking
On the win2000 you have to create a user wih the same name as the windows98 machine. In control pannel go to users and passwords and click on add, enter the computer name and a password if you want to use one. Hope this helps. -
Did you install the latest chipset inf from intel? http://www.intel.com/design/software/drivers/platform/inf.htm Not sure if it will help.

So wich is better? Quality ... What do you think.
-
You could get a cheap graphic card (2d only) but you won't be able to play games.
-
Maybe when installing drivers it does test the board and that may be too much. On my system I managed to play quake3 for a few seconds before it blocked. Did you test the geforce on any other board?
-
Sorry bout the F**ked up quote. I only had problems when installing drivers on via chipset, when I tried to install the graphic drivers before installing via4in1 drivers. Wich version of windows are you running?
-
Quote: But if the agp1x is the problem, why does it work in Red Hat 8 ?? The problem occurs only when the geforce is consuming more power than the mobo can provide. (Playing games that is.) Did you try to play any games under redhat 8? Standard vga drivers do not include any 3d... and therefore the card doesn't consume that much power.
-
So MarianoC did it work with 1x agp? And the res of you guys are really off topic. I do favor Intel and I think let the market decide who will win or who is better. The fact is that the best technical solutions aren't always the one that get the biggest market share. So if you got a good enough strategy maybe you could convince people that a viaC3 or via epia is better than intel in what you get for your money. As long as everybody is happy with what they got at home. A little competition never harmed anyone and nobody wants Intel to become a hardware Micro$oft. Now I'm off topic too.

Unfortunatley your MB is only agp1.0 compilant. check out http://www.technologyvault.co.uk/geforce...gef&lang=en Your mobo is not listed there, but you should try to search if anyone got it working. The problem is that hte mobo isn't providing enough power to the geforce. My problem was the same. The board booted and ran ok, but if you tried to play a game it crashed of freezed with a looped sound. You should either get a agp2.0 compatible motherboard (in the link there are a few listed that work) or change the graphic board (voodoo3 or ati radeon) But check if it works before you buy it. For some mobos there were tweaks to increase agp voltage, but i haven't tried any of this. Good luck. or better bad luck

Is there a program to change the time and the date of a file. I tried acdsee4, but you don't see the seconds, only minutes and hours. Is there a good program to do this??

I like TEAC. I Have a 32x cdrom drive for 4 years and no problems. But I would recomend geting a dvd.

Installed PCTV and now neither of my cdroms is accesible

What was wrong? -
Why is madrake better than other? I had an old mandrake 5.2 for some time and then upgraded to redhat 7.2. I didn't however try a new version of mandrake.

Did you try an AC3 filter? http://www.ptuj.com/divx/out.php?type=program&id=35 This isn't the only ac3 filter around. If it dosen't work try to find another or post back and I'll tell you where to find them. Rcently I had a similar problem. I downloaded a XviD file. I had to download 3 codecs to get the fight one. Good luck. -
In device manager check primary and secondary IDE chanells. In the advanced settings tab check if you got "DMA if available" selected. Also check if you have latest via4in1 drivers installed (I think your mobo has a via chipset) Took me a while to figure that P10 ment PIO.

Try repairing the installation. Boot from windowsXP cdrom and there you can select repair... (don't know exactly) Hope it fixes the problem.

I had I strange problem too. When I copied a file from one partition to another, the computer spontaneously rebooted. I changed the hdd and it was ok. I put the old hdd into another computer and it had no spontaneous reboots. Most often cause for spontaneous reboots is ram. You might try to take one stick out and see what happens. Good luck.

Yes I have

I can only tell you how I do it in win98 when I have to reinstall a os. I copy the contens of c:\windows\Application data\Identities\ to a safe location (or best zip it. And when I install new os or a different computer i copy the files to the same location. Maybe you'll have to change the {hgvghdgfi-12fdgfd-fsfd} folder that iexplorer creates. There is also a way to import old mail accounts in iexplorer. I don't know if this is what you were asking for, but hope it helps.

Did you try any other mouse. Try pressing shift+F10 is the box still empty? If it is, it's possible that there's nothing wrong with the mouse but with the windows.
