For gods sake this Gametheater XP is pissing me off...
cyberguru replied to cyberguru's topic in Hardware
Ive actually fixed the problem.. Im not really sure but its something to do with mediaplayer not initialising the sound properly. If I use winamp first and then start playing the movie and quit winamp everything is ok... But the point is that I paid over £110 for this card because it was supposed to have hardware accelleration, and Im not happy with having to turn it down. -
I had a problem like this in all versions of windows.. it is something to do with the cable/wiring.... Im worried about my mouse because where the cable goes into the mouse seems to be getting white with strain...

Im running Windows XP Final on my PC with a GameTheater XP. I have the drivers and it works fairly well. But the other day I was watching Me, Myself and Irene DivX/DVDrip and after about 20 mins the sound screwed up. Its nothing to do with the film cos I listened to it b4 with my old onboard sound device. And its not the DivX codec cos they have nothing to do with the sound. So its either Win XP or GTXP/Drivers. Any takers want to start the ball rolling with an answer?

Good point. I went to the hercules web site and saw that 3.02's were out but because there were no other drivers (older ones) I assumed they were the ones I had. But maybe Ill give the new ones a download and see what happens...

If you have an account on your computer that you never use (eg an account set up so someone can access the computer from the network) and you are fed up of it cluttering up the log in screen, simply goto Local policy editor and do not allow the user to log on locally. And it dissapears from the screen but they can still log on remotely. And also Disabling the account makes it dissapear too.

Everyone else probably knew this but....

The best thing to do is get the properties for your startmenu/task bar and make Administrative tools a group. Then theyre their all the time and you can leave the control panel looking funky like it was... -

Glad to be of some help... -
I am really happy with the drivers. Games and playing MP3's is great. And Im not really bothered about watching movies on my PC. But I just hope this isnt the tip of the iceberg leading to something else...

OK Yakkob. I understand your point. Ive been playing Max Payne at the same time as playing MP3's from Winamp and the sound has been excelent, apart from the talking in max payne being a bit quiet. But without the Winamp running everything is fine. I just need to sort out this GFX card now. LOL

Yakkob, I dont mean to sound rude man, but we are talking about the new GameTheater XP drivers for Windows XP, not Windows 2000. There are several releases of updated drivers for 2K, but only one release for XP. If you've tried up[censored] the drivers and still have problems post it somewhere else man, not in XP hardware probs..

Headphone extra speaker out put.. For this 6th rear speaker... That would be cool.
-
Ya, Yakkob. Klog dyke de vindmill? The drivers so far have been OK. Im using the Cambridge Soundworks speakers (2.1, if you like) and they seem to be fine, once I got them in the right place and the sub volume right. Only thing I saw was that when I first installed the drivers and I checked the GTXP control panel the MP3 Playback box was un-checked.. Would this have made any difference for playback? With it switched on CPU usage is 10-20% when playing an MP3. No, wait. Im lying scum. In Winamp CPU usage is 0-4%. Damn... Thats good.

sometime Win XP screws up on boot up (stuck at black screen
cyberguru replied to superman322's topic in Customization & Tweaking
I have a problem with XP hanging when I boot my computer, but the CP logo goes off and I am left with a blank black screen. This happens 1 in 3 times when I boot my computer, but very rarely happens twice in a row. I think it s GFX problem so I need to download updated drivers for my Card. -
In Windows XP on my PC I am using a networked printer on my girlfrieds Windows ME Machine. If I try and load up certain apps (ie Word and Photoshop 6) when her PC is switched off it crashes and does that report to Microsoft crap. I solved the problem by making another printer the default one and then switching to the network one when I print. Also the way that we connect our PC's isnt normal. We use a twisted cable where the wires a crossed at one end so we dont need a hub. This works OK, so I dont think its anything to do with that. Has anyone else had a problem similar on their PC?

Im happy with the drivers so far. Im only using stereo speakers but I hope to upgrade them soon.
-
I confused cos Ive just installed the new drivers and at the top of the Install wizard it said Game Theater XP 6.1 Thats not right is it? I downloaded the right drivers, but are we being fobbed off?

So what is the 'safest' CD making/copying software to use in Windows XP. I use East CD Creator 5 Plat. But Ive read in magazines that it can kill Windows XP/2K and to use Nero! I have Nero 5.5.5.1 but I wont be putting it on, yet. And where can you get the latest (official) ASPI drivers. I got some from someones web page thats seemed like a dodgy hacked version that you needed to run bat file and then the installer..? And that poor excuse that MS has put in XP to burn to CD's is *****, it doesnt close the cds and they arent readable in DOS. So when I tried to install XP off a disc it wouldnt read.
-
Where can I get the drivers from? I went to www.guillemot.com and clicked Support->Herculese and it was the same old page Ive been seeing for weeks.
-
What CD writer are you using. When I tried mine it said No Writers Found!... If its SCSI get the ASPI drivers, try getting the newer ver of clone CD. Hope it works.

Why d'you wonna play Unreal anyway? Wolfenstein 3D was better. Nail Unreal/UT to the wall as punishment and play Half Life or something better, like spider solitaire.

These are some of the problems I have been having with drivers and Windows XP (build 2600): Game Theater XP; We all know what problems XP has with these. Although the drivers need up[censored] and Multi-CPU systems seem to have a problem with this and SBLive! cards. ATI Rage 128; When XP is loading after the black screen with the blue progress bar on XP will hang hereat least 1 in 3 times i boot my computer. AOpen PA3000; Same problem as with ATI Card, except locks up everytime, once the drivers are installed. I thought all this was a problem with my GA7IXE4 motherboard, but reading some of the posts on NT Compatible forums has convinced me Microsoft have dropped another pup.
-
Why, whats wrong with your netty card?
-
Yes, but youd think with all the beta'a and the time companies have had theyd have some drivers out in time for XP's release. Or isnt XP released yet???
-
I have a Hercules Game Theater XP and in windows XP and 2K all that comes out of it is noise. No sounds, just noise. Ive read else where on NT Compatible that its a driver prob but can be fixed if you install an nVidea GFX card. But seeing as I have an ATI card and cant afford a GeForce 3 just yet I was wondering if anyone had a better answer.

Can I just ask a question? What is 2cpu? If its a web site can someone post the full address because I am interested in making a dual CPU system... Thanks.
