    LBA2 -Little Big Adventure

I recommend using DOSBox and install the DOS version of the game. Works like a charm.
  2. Hi! I'm running Windows 2000 with SP2. The reason I'm not using SP3 or SP4 is that my MIDI software won't work, since they included the XP MIDI routines. There's a upgrade for my software available, but that will cost me $50. So I'm still on SP2. Anyway, I noticed awhile ago that I have TWO svchost.exe running directly after startuo. While fooling around with it a couple of minutes ago I had THREE of them. A restart made it back to two. I don't want to have two active. It's not like that after a pure installation, is it? Any idea what the cause could be, and/or how to make it to only one svchost.exe active? I'm not too happy of the idea to make a reinstall of Windows. Thanks, Freddo

Hi! I use Windows 2000 pro and Explorer 5.0 I have no idea how, but my menus have dissapeared! I can't go into 'Edit' or 'View' for example. Quite annoying. Any ideas how to get it back? Regards, Freddo

    No menu in Explorer

Well, I'm clumsy and tired. That's all. I moved, somehow, the menu down below the address field and pulled up the whole thing so it was nowhere to be seen. :x

What's the verdict on SP3, then?

I had some problems with SP3 (midi related). So I smacked in SP2 earlier today.

Discworld 2, SVGA and mouse problem

Why not install the DirectX version?
  9. Hi! Hopefully someone can help me with this... I use w2k pro and when I start an OLD 16-bit MS-DOS program the OS complain over a disc-access problem. A popup come up and I can choose between closing the program or ignore the warning. If I ignore it everthing works as it should do. My question is: Is it somehow possible to make the popupwarning to NOT appear? To have the ignore setting somehow as default? Not a big problem, I know. But I would appreciate any help.

Daggerfall- Any problems on Win2k pro?

I didn't have any problems to install Daggerfall under w2k pro just pr-man. Why? I don't know. Didn't even use APPCOMPAT. For the sound I'm using VDMSound so I'm having no problem there either. Check out this: http://www.elderscrolls.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/005592.html
  13. Hi! DirectX is a collection of lots of functions that help programmers to make (mostly) games. Since you don't play the newest games (do you?) you won't need DX8. And DX7 comes preinstalled with w2k, I think. Since everything seems to work fine, there's no NEED for up[censored] your drivers. If there are any newer drivers availible for you soundcard, they are probably only gamerelated fixes. Same goes for the videocard.

    Curse of Monkeyisland

I have no problem at all with it. Just use Service pack 2 and download and the Compability Update. http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000platform/Install/1.7/NT5/EN-US/appupd.exe

    System Shock 1

Hi everyone! I just upgraded to w2k and now one of my favorite games doen't work so I hoping that some you could help me. In System Shock 1 the intro goes fine and the main menu too. Aswell as the difficult settings. But when the actual game load it crashes and shows this: Quote: Our system has been shocked!! But rememeber to Salt The Fries System Shock can no longer run due to a fatal error. Error code 3007 Memory error Not enough memory to make email cursor! Common problem solutions: * Increase FILES in config.sys to 30 or more. * Disable SMARTDRV write caching * Use a minimal config.sys and autoexec.bat If none of these work, call Origin Tech Support (512) 335-0440 Any ideas? It souldn't be a problem since the NT kernel doesn't use the base memory at all, or does it? I'm using VDMSound. Also is there ANY way to get VESA2 to work? I think not, but some of you might have an idea.

    System Shock 1

Yeah, this is what I do now. I was just wondering if anyone got it working under w2k because it would be nice if I didn't have to restart my computer everytime I want to play SS1.
  18. In the W9x series you could add ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1 under [386Enh] in the system.ini-file for giving the pagefile a low priority. The pagefile isn't used until it's really neccecery, which give a nice speedboost when all of the system is in your "real" memory. If you have a lot of mem, that is. >128 Can I do something similiar with the NT kernel to give the pagefile a low priority?
