    acdsee slow in loading pictures?

Quote: see, the problem with the acdsee isn't the thumbnails - they load up very fast. The problem is when you double-click one to view the image; that takes forever, heh. I even tried viewing pictures from both drives (C: and D with no luck. My harddrives are both very fast otherwise - dont' know why it takes so long to process a (*&)(*& picture! I am using ACDSee 4 with no problems with XP Home. Changing pictures in full screen using page down / page up is very fast. 0,2 s per picture for loading from both harddrives (C: and D or from CD-ROM.

How to get CD-Rom drive to support UDMA mode?

Quote: Hi Ralf an Bottleneck, Thanks for the advice. Will try both hardware and registry to see if it will work. Get back to you guys if it doesn't. Thanks. You have to look at your bios, whether it recognizes your CD-ROM as PIO 4 or UDMA 33. In the first case, it may possible, that you have only PIO 4 or DMA Multiword 2. In the second normally XP activates DMA automatically.

    WinXP 'nv4_disp.dll' Infinite Loop Crash

Quote: yeah I've been getting this as well. Each time it happens I send a bug report to Microsoft, and fill in my contact details so they can get back to me. After only 8 weeks I have changed my first graphiccard with Nvidia-Chipset Geforce 2 MX400 to an ATI Radeon 7500 and all problems are gone.

Easy CD Creator in XP having probs

Quote: easy cd creator is the worst program on the face of this earth, im sorry but that program needs to die or something. Ive used nero and cdrwin and haven't had a coaster in over 100 burns if not more. I used up a spindle and a half without a coaster using those programs. I try ez cd creator and right off the bat i get a coaster. I am using ECDC since Version 3.5. In over 300 burns with CD-Rs from Teac and Plextor (all SCSI) I had no coasters. Running Nero 5.x (latest update) for the first time and I had 3 coasters. Now I am back to ECDC 5.02b and Win 98SE. On my second PC I am using XP Home and WinOnCD 5 with Samsung SW-216B (ATAPI).

    Winxp boot up hanging

Quote: Because of this, I'm currently using NAV 2002, but like others I am suffering from horrendous slow downs when XP is finishing booting. It doesn't appear to effect the time XP takes to get to the desktop, just a good 40 seconds to a minute after that, where my HD goes mad, and I can't use the GUI at all. Unless Symantec can fix this, I'd rather go back to NAV CE, if only I could work out why it won't update. My solution for the long booting of XP was DHCP. XP is looking for an IP-adress. After I have given a static IP-adress to my network card, the boot process takes only about 10 seconds and NAV 2002 has no problem to start within 2 or 3 seconds. I hope, that some of you will help this. Udo Kammer

    Winxp boot up hanging

Quote: ...After ICQ, and Norton's Antivirus are loaded, there is a pause of more than 30 seconds before the computer finishes booting. If I try to execute any other programs during this period of time, they are not executed until after the computer finishes booting. It didn't start doing this until a week after the clean install of Winxp.... The problem doesn't keep me from using my computer, but it is annoying, leave a post with any good answers It is Norton Antivirus 2002. It takes about 30 seconds till Autoprotect is activated. I hope, that Symantec will deliver a patch to solve this "problem". I also noticed, that the shutdown takes a longer time (20 seconds) since NAV 2002 is installed.

    Adaptec 2920 and xp

Quote: this card is no longer supported in windows xp - anyone got a windows 2000 driver or any suggestions on how to get working in XP There 2 different adaptec 2920. The 2920 and 2920A are original Future Domain controllers, which will not be supported within W2K and XP. The 2920C is an adaptec product, which is supported for W2K and they maybe XP-drivers in about 6 - 8 weeks. adaptec is still waiting, that Microsoft certifies the SCSI-drivers.
