Wouldn't it be cheaper (and better environmentally) to get an extension for a corded mouse than to buy a new battery or two every month for a cordless?
-
Huh... Maybe I should hold out, doing so would probably save money and frustration... Have any guess when the next generation of DVD+/-RW drives will hit and at what price they might be at? Thanks for the information.
-
You're welcome. You can create fixes (custom databases) for each, and these shortcuts will use corresponding fix if QFixApp is currently running. But I don't know of a way to do what you're asking.
-
I won't be doing copies of DVDs, I'll be creating my own. Thanks for the input.

Well, I suggest not using a wireless. They're too heavy for gaming, sometimes they cut out, and they're a waste of batteries.
-
I think I read somewhere that the two were identical except for the fact that the C has a different/additional sound chipset. Have you checked Asus' site?
-
You're welcome.

Check out this 3DSpotlight link for more info. (It's for w2k, but XP might be similar.

If you didn't change it yourself, it's most likely not the problem. I think you check priority by going into your task manager, selecting the processes? tab and then right clicking the executable (must be currently running) in question on the list of what's running. Then priority should be in the pop up box, move your mouse over it, and the priorities should be shown. I think the current priority setting has a bullet or some marker for indication. It's safest to leave priorities alone, though. Most games run well enough in normal, as far as I know.

I had similar problems with UT when running it in realtime priority on w2k. Problem went away after changing it back to normal priority. Is the game running on a setting higher than normal priority?

Anyone know if Asus will produce an nForce microATX motherboard? If so, how long before they're produced? At first, I thought they had some out, as a search on pricewatch resulted in a few Asus mobos with "Micro ATX", but the 5 PCI ports listed hinted one was of the specs was the typo. After browsing the Asus site, I realized the typo was the "Micro" and not the "5".

Quote: ...Even the GF3 still has support for DX7 and OGL 1.2, the only advanced core is the ATI Radeon 8500 with full DX8.1 and OGL 1.3 ICD support out of the box. Of course the GeForce3 has support for DX7. So does the Radeon 8500. But the way it's stated above is slightly misleading. The GeForce3 core is advanced enough for Full DirectX 8.0 support. And which of the two's different features will be utilized most in future gaming? We'll have to wait and see.

Did you get any info from that forum? If you posted, can you link to it? I'm curious if there's a fix.

Quote: You might also want to check out the NForce boards from Asus and MSI. I agree. Integrated LAN, very impressive integrated sound, integrated GeForce2MX, it's a mobo with integrated components that don't suck (and if you want more, it's still got an AGP port). If you want to know more, check out this link.

Well, if you're looking to do any 3D gaming on it, look for a GeForce2 GO or GeForce4 GO with 32MB.

A friend of mine just got a computer, and I'm trying to figure out if his mobo is PCI 2.1 compliant. He's running a 466Mhz Celeron on a FLORIDA-TG/TGA mobo. I've downloaded a copy of the manual, and did a search for 2.0, 2.1, PCI, and complaint, and didn't get any info... What's a good way to find out? Is there anything printed on the motherboard itself? I'm guessing it's 2.1 complaint, but I'm not sure. Anyone got any ideas? Here's some more info on the mobo if it helps: "Florida-TG/TGA Micro ATX (ATX V1.2 form factor) motherboard, TriGem, Korea Intel Socket-370 (370pin PPGA Socket) for Intel Celeron CPUs Intel 440LX core and ITE8673 Super I/O controller ATI Rage Pro Turbo built-in AGP graphics accelerator with 4MB SGRAM Crystal CS4280/CS4281 built-in Sound Blaster Pro, MPC-3, MPU-401 compatible Audio Enhanced Stereo full duplex operation" (Source: http://www.emachines.com/support/view_faq.html?faq=1004986892)

Yes, UT does rule. Have you been to ModSquad and Nali City?
-
maybe try http://forums.beyondunreal.com/ I've done some searching, but haven't found much. I'll let you know if I dig something up. Did you get the GOTY edition (428) or the original (400)?
-
I tried it on my system (thinking I had IE 5.5) and it worked fine. Then figured out I only had IE 5.0... Do you have UT version 436? Under Options > Preferences > Game (tab) is the "ngStats Local Logging" box checked? Did you lauch view local ngStats from UT or from a windows shortcut?
-
The game requires DirectX 8.1, have you upgraded to that yet? Do you have the second service pack installed? Maybe uninstall the demo, and then uninstall and reinstall the game? As a last resort, you could try the QFixApp program found in the Application Compatibility Toolkit You shouldn't have to run a game in compatibility mode if it's supposedly compatible, but hey, if it gets the game running... Do you have everything the game lists as a requirement?

Quote: tbh i think unreal 2 will be better than doom 3...Doom 3 just reminds me of quake 2 with better graphics. From what I've been reading, I agree, Unreal 2 is looking more impressive: on gameplay, on graphics, on animation, and also on scalability. But, as far as game of the year? Deus Ex 2 might also be in the running (if of course, it is released this year). (DX2 will also use the Unreal Engine) Unreal II FAQ

Gamespot says it does. Click the link to see the system requirements.

I not sure if either of these are the problems, but on the off chance it helps: I've noticed similar problems if I run UT in realtime. Try running the games in "normal" process priority, if you're currently running them above this setting. I've also noticed similar problems in UT with DirectInput selected under options>perferences>input, so deselect it if it's selected (and of course, turn off mouse acceleration in your windows mouse control panel).

Double check here to be sure you've tried what's listed. Specifically, try getting DX8.1 if you don't have it already. Make sure that you make a custom fix (click the advanced tab in QFixApp, (read the above link for more details) for the SWEP1RCR.EXE file, and then run the game with the RACER.EXE shortcut. Keep QFixApp running. Try enabling and disabling EmulateJoystick to figure out which works best with your joystick. Maybe check for the latest WHQL certified drivers for your vid card.

Can you use a URL command in the Subject line as you can in the message? If so, how?
